2. REALITY

"What do you want to do in life?", Mom asked me as I threw my bag on the sofa.

" What does that mean?", I knew what was brewing inside her.

"Roshni got a job in Mumbai.", Mom said making a weird face.

" That's a good news. Why are you making faces?", I said munching on the chips.

"Don't you have manners? Wash your hands when you come from outside. You didn't even remove your shoes. I mopped the floor twice today", my mom fumed.

" Tell that you are unhappy with Roshni getting a job. My mistakes are just an excuse for removing your frustration", I said as switched on the TV.

Roshni was my paternal aunt's daughter.

God knows why there are cousins.

They are nothing but annoying creatures who only know to mess up others' lives. They were those sadists who would fake their own life and enjoy other's mortification.

"Do you have any shame?", my mom was displeased with my indifference.

" I left it long back", I retorted.

"What?", my mom furrowed her eyebrows.

" What, what?", I shrugged my shoulders.

"What did you leave long back?"

"Shame. That's what you were asking, right?"

"I am done with all yhell idiosyncrasies.", she said leaving to her room.

" Ma my food", I shouted my mouth full with the chips.

"You see that for yourself", she scoffed.

Absolutely!! A job was the peak of Mount Everest after all.

My cousin had a peculiar habit. She would always call up my Dad to inform about all her achievements.

I don't understand why the hell do they even call when we don't even ask them.

I texted Ravi.

Leave it. Relax. Have some food and go to sleep.

His replies were always like this. He was used to the condition of my house now. I always had tonnes of complaints.

I hated my cousin. Not because she was a step ahead of me but because she was fake, hollow, stupid and lastly MY COUSIN. I hated this tag at any cost.

This year was very unexpected, boring and tiring. Well mentally tiring is the right word.

I didn't know when I dozed off on the sofa. I woke up at the noise of a bullet. Our milk man was here. As expected I was to take the milk as I was free this year.

I got up and brought the vessel.

Opening the door I saw our milkman with a new bullet.

" What's this brother? You have got a new bike."

"Yes. Got it yesterday"

"WOW!!! So what will you give? Sweets or free milk for 2 days?"

I got no reply.

His phone rang and he started talking over it.

Sweets and free milk are two things you won't get even from a millionaire after all the prices of milk were soaring high at 64 per litre.

Money was funny. People loved to earn and feared to spend. I wished I was like them. I never learnt the art of being stingy and prudent.

Haha...the last lines stay true always...Money is everything now-a-days!!!Lets see if d lead will go ahead of her cousin or not!!!But unlike lead, I love my cousins more...They add beauty to life in my perspective!!!Update soon!!!

3. MONOCHROMATIC

"That doesn't affect you at all?", My mom as I said was in no mood to give up.

" I don't believe this Ma", I was utterly exhausted with all the circus.

"She has got a job. You are one year elder to her and you are still sitting at home", My mom pulled off the quilt switching on the light.

" What the hell is wrong with you? For God's sake its just a job, well it'd called internship. She has to clear one year still.", I was irritated as my mom broke my sleep.

Sleep is the first thing I love the most and if anyone tries to act smart I lose my temper.

"If she has to clear one year, so you have to. You wasted one year for nothing"

"Why are you being so difficult? Let me sleep", I took my pillow and quilt to sleep in the hall.

" She has got a job", my mom shouted behind me.

"Then go and adopt her", nobody could ever challenge me when it came to back answering.

" So?", Ravi was busy painting his "masterpiece"

"Will you just tell me what are you painting?", I was tremendously curious at his work which seemingly was endless.

"You'll get to see it when it's done", he replied as he splashed a mixture of orange,red and yellow.

" Too bright", I said disapprovingly.

"For you it always will be", Ravi chuckled.

" Shut up"

"What's the temperature?", he asked.

" 30C"

"I mean the temperature in your house", he giggled.

" Don't ask. It's blazing hot. Around 50C", I couldn't help laughing.

"Now what has happened?"

"Roshni has got a job"

"Good for her. What next?"

"Nothing. She has got a job and my mom has gone mad"

We both laughed.

"Don't be mean", he warned me.

" Am not"

"My house is more like a zoo you see. In fact a national wildlife sanctuary", I chuckled.

"I told you. Don't be mean", he grinned.

All of a sudden he sneezed with the paint brush held high. Well it was such a storm that the paint from the brush splashed on my face.

" God!! You are another monkey", I said blinking my eye as the orange colour glued to my left side of the eye.

"Am so sorry", his sneezing didn't cease.

" God bless you ", I moved away scared of another attack from his brush.

" You look beautiful with that colour", he complimented my newly coloured face.

"I don't like it much", I said wiping it off.

" To the right slightly.", he guided me.

He helped me with it after my repetitive failed attempts.

"After all you are a monochromatic person", he joked.

" That's true. Its only black and white for me and obviously some grey fools."

Ravi still wasn't convinced with my talks. We both were the two ends of the river which could never meet.
