Shruthi, I do believe that our dear n near ones who leaves us lives in us and guides us. Their memories should give us strength and how beautifully you did this with Murali n Sreedhar. Loved their bond. He was always his shield and remains so even after his death. Really beautiful Shruthi👏

Yes Geena if Sreedhar doesnt acknowledge the sacrifice of his brother he cannot move forward. Afterall his bhaiyya did marry his love and from society point of view she is his widow. It is his absence that has given him a chance. Else either suman would have succumbed to be Murali's wife or would have died if she is unable to do that.

Shruthi I do read all the updates of this story on my mobile, butI have not been able to sit on the p.c for sometime for posting my thoughts till today. Sridhar is right {can I say here that I like this character a lot for not sitting around crying at the loss and instead trying to set it right};all these efforts cannot be effective if Suman doesnot come out of her self imposed cell...Looking forward to the next chapter.

Thanks Savitha. I am happy you like Sreedhar's portrayal. Actually I had created him after seeing some version of Devdas and my mom was telling " what a pain for Devdas " and seeing her, my bua and everyone sitting and crying watching Devdas in TV. In those days people used to come to our home to watch movies in TV as ours was one of the few households which had TV.
I was like why people are crying. What did this Devdas do. His love went because of his mistake, so he drink and died 😆😆. If he had wanted he would have married chandramukhi, give a life to the lady and bring in some positive change to the society for what had happened to Parvati. But no. He just cried paro, paro, drink, died. Neither he gave paro peace when he was alive, nor when he died 😆😆
So in my story I created a man who will fight, fight against the system for what the system did to his loved one.

Chapter 18- The Dance " Namrata can we start " asked Suman. Her little niece was all decked up and ready for her practice. " Yes Chachi". Suman started showing steps. The girl started repeating. " Nami not like that beta. Look at Chachi. It is like this. " she held the girl's hand and repeated the step. The girl tried again, but made the same mistake. She looked funny and Suman giggled looking at her niece's exasperated look that the step was not coming right. " Chachi you look beautiful when you smile. I have not seen you smiling." told Nami innocently and Suman froze" Why are you laughing. One thing I have to say you look good when you are giggling which anyways I am seeing for the first time" quipped Sreedhar. He was showing her the elaborate plan he had made for the Jodi dance. " Sreedhar are we really going to do Jodi dance " " Yes of course that's why you are here and I am showing you all this " " Sreedhar you are filling the stage with props" " Yes Suman. See Jodi dance you need to give a feel of the Jodi that is it. For that it is not necessary you have to do close dancing. The support pairs will dance in the centre as the pair and we need to move between props and come in centre at a distance you are comfortable. That can be managed " " Sreedhar I know you are doing all this for me" " No, not for you, but for college to win. College cannot win if you are uncomfortable " " College cannot win with this props also Sreedhar. I know it. I don't know what to say. But I am sorry. In a fit of rage I shouldn't have enrolled for Jodi dance. I should have known what it means and my own limitations as a girl who has never danced outside and leave that, never with a boy. My conservative upbringing I should have remembered. But in my immaturity I have not only put you in a precarious situation, but also the college too. I did hear about the past competition. How you and Kritika didi have won twice and this time also it should have been her or Riya didi as your pair. The whole college hostel feels this time AR college will lose it, the dance and the championship" " And I have decided Sreedhar the college wont lose it. And you wont lose it either. Yes it is uncomfortable for me, but to participate in the trials was my decision. I will dance if you can have some patience with me. Not this many props Sreedhar. Remove them. The feel of the song " Kuch Na Kaho " can never be given with this many props. She put forward her hand " Can you take my hand " Sreedhar took her hand. " Music " he said " Samay ka ye pal dams aa gaya hain " played the recorder. She moved closer wrapped in his arms and then he let her go, still holding her hand. " Comfortable " he asked as the recorder stopped. " We can still use the prop" . " I am getting used. I will be fine. No props" she smiled. His eyes were calm " Suman Chachi you are crying. Why are you crying. Did I remind you of chachu. Please don't cry. I will not say anything" Namrata hugged her and Suman looked at the child and thought " What should I tell you Nami. That you bought me a beautiful memory or memory of a paradise lost " she wiped her tears. " Nami look I am not crying. Come let us practice . Do the step once again. Like this ". She once again started teaching and in the dance steps somewhere forgot her misery and sorrows.

finally finished reading all the updates..
Loving Maheshwari and Supriya's characters. They are the real inspiring women who bring the changes in the system silently.
Bhavani resemble the women those days who want a better life for their children but cant do anything against their husbands and the system.

Bhabhis also so supportive and understanding.

the friends are so supportive and their past is really nice to read..
The stuggle in suman and sreedhar makes us emotional.
Good that Sreedhar wants to set everything right without getting upset and blaming fate.
Freinds wanting to become the part of the power system to fight is really wonderful .

Thanks Hemaji. Yes for system to change we need silent people in addition to those who fight from front.

@Shruthi: Good start.
I have read only first 2 chapters, but I didn't get few things.
You mentioned the story travels in 90's, did we had these treatment towards widows in 90's .
First, apart from sati practice which was removed by laws, I am not quite aware of Rajasthani customs and traditions.
Why Suman expected to be trashed in streets and thrown stones? Why her head shaved and given white sarees? Vishkanya???
Sorry dear, I replied to know whether the story proceeds projecting more torture or the way to remove the wrong rituals (As I know you😆).

I can proceed further reading only after clarification, poor me use to it.
