Part 27

Karna And Dron--Arishtasur Vadh

A Couple Of Years Had Passed Away. One Day, Karna Went Up To Guru Dron. He Sat Quietly Beside His Teacher's Feet As Dron Was Immersed In His Meditation. He Smiled To See Karna As He Opened His Eyes. Karna Was The Keenest Student After Arjun. It Was A Pleasure For Any Teacher To Teach Them As They Grasped Everything Faster Than Others, But Practiced Their Skills Instead Of Playing Around In Their Free Time. 'There's Only One Fault In The Boy,' Thought Dron, 'That He Cannot Distinguish Good From Evil. No That Isn't Correct, The Main Thing Is, He Is Too Good To Resist Evil.' Sage Dron Prayed To God To Keep Karna On The Right Track While He Asked The Boy The Reason For His Arrival. Karna Said, "Sir, Actually, I Had A Request." Dron Looked At Him Inquisitively And Signaled Him To Go On. Karna Continued, "Sir, Actually, I Want The Brahmaastra." Dron Laughed Out Loudly, "Brahmaastra ? What Will You Do With The Brahmaastra ? I Hope You Don't Plan To Beat A Disobedient Horse With It. It Is Not The Rule."
"No Sir. I Want It For Some War. Where I Could Destroy The Total Army Of Enemy By Just One Blow."
"Oh Really ? Now, Enough Of Joking Karna. I Am Pardoning You For This Joke Because, Despite Being A Charioteer's Son, You're Better Than Almost Any Prince Here. Your Excellence Gathers You A Last Chance. Now Go And Play With Your Friends, And Forget Brahmaastra."
"No Sir, I Can't Forget Brahmaastra, Pashupataastra Or Vaishnavaastra ! Believe Me, I Wouldn't Use It For Any Wrong Purpose !"
"Fine, If You Can't Forget Those Weapons, You Can Very Well Forget This Ashram. Now Get Lost !" Dron Left, Leaving Karna Pleading And Apologizing. Karna Left The Ashram With All His Belongings Without Another Single Word.

That Night, In Barsana, Raadha's Village. Krishna Was Sitting On The Window-sill Of Her Room, While Raadha Lay In Her Bed. They Talked In Whispers Lest They Woke Up Raadha's Parents. Krishna Said, "Raadhe, Do You Want Me To Shout ?" Raadha Punched Him Playfully, "Try To Shout, And I'll Push You Out !"
"Then ? What Will You Say When Aunt Keerti Comes In With A Broom ?"
"I'll Tell Mom That There Was A Cat With A Peacock Feather, And She Will Chase The Cat With Her Legendary Broom !"
"Oh Dear, I Don't Want That ! You Know My Weakness Right ?"
"Yes, I Do. But Do You Know My Weakness ?"
"No, Do You Have Any In The First Place ?"
"Yes, My Weakness Is That I Just Can't Stop Myself From Fulfilling Your Wish ! You Wanted Maiya To Come In, Right ? So, Here You Go. MAIYA !!"
"Excuse Me ! What Exactly What Do You Want To Do?"
Without Replying Raadha Went And Dimmed The Light. Hearing The Tinkling Sound Of Keertikumari's Anklets, Kanha Jumped Down From The First Floor, Albeit A Flower Vase Fell With Him. Raadha Realized Her Mistake And Quickly Threw A Bottle Of Fragrance On The Floor, As Her Mother Entered The Room. Raadha Turned To Face Her Mother, "Aah, Well, Maiya ! THERE IS A Scent No Maiya No CAT !! Yes, There's A CAT !! Not Anything Else, A CAT ! For Sure, A Cat Indeed !" Keertikumari Had Got Used To Raadha's Midnight Drama, "Cat ? Yes, There Is A Cat, No Doubt, With My Favorite Vase, Broken. And Don't You Dare Think I Can't Recognize The Cat. I'm Going To Gokul Tomorrow, I Think I Should Tell Yashoda To Keep Her Son At Home At Night !" Raadha Tried To Wheedle Her Mom Into Cancelling Her Plan With A Shower Of Sweet Words And Promises, Never Meant To Be Kept. Keertikumari Was Too Simple To See Through Raadha's Sweet-talk, Though She Told Her, "I Will Consider Not Complaining, If You Consider Keeping The Windows Shut At Night !" Raadha Was Eager To Please, "Yes, Maiya ! That Will Give A Few Hours Of Peace At Least !"

Next Morning, Raadha Was Returning From The Riverbank. Suddenly Someone Pulled At Her Braid. The Pot Fell From Her Head. Raadha Shrieked In Pain And Terror As She Turned Back To See Krishna Laughing Away, With Her Pot On His Lap. Krishna Looked Up, "Hello Darling ! Had Fun Last Night ? I Heard Someone Promising Someone To Keep Her Windows Shut And Someone Needs A Couple Of Peaceful Hours Of Sllep. See, In Any Case, Even If Aunt Keerti Comes Over To Complain, Maiya Will Not Scold Me, She'll Not Beat Me. Rather, She Will Scold Your Mother And Send Her Back. So It Will Be Much Safer For You To Keep Quiet At Night And Let Me Do My Job Of Disturbing You." Raadha Pulled Away Her Pot And Pushed Kanha Back Onto The Ground. "See, I'll Push You Down From My Window. Just Like This, If You Dare To Spoil Me Sleep Again !"
"Ouch ! Fine, I Won't Come But Will You Be Able To Sleep If I Don't ?"
"Well, No. But Why Don't You Get Better Kanha ?"
"Will You Like It If I Get Better And Become A Perfectly Obedient, Disciplined And Too-Nervous-To-Speak-To-A-Lady Type Of Boy ?"
"No ! Not That."
"Then What ?"
A Loud Roar Was Heard Before Raadha Could Reply. Raadha Jumped Close To Kanha To Embrace Him, But He Was Gone. In A Few Moments Raadha's Friends Caught Up With Her And Informed her Of A Gigantic Bull Who Had Entered The Area, And Wanted To Kill All The Villagers.

Krishna Stood In Front Of The Bull In Front Of Him. He Understood That The Bull Was None Other Than Arishtasur, Or Kans' Friend, The Bull-demon. The Bull Was Triple His Size, And It Continuously Pawed Up Dust With Its Big Hooves. Krishna Instigated The Demon By Running From One Side To The Other And Tickling His Great Feet. Blinded With Rage, The Demon Rushed Towards Him, But Krishna Caught Hold Of His Horns And Thrust Him On The Ground Several Yards Away. The Bull Pounced On Kanha, And This Time, Krishna Jumped Onto His Back And Broke Off One Of The Horns Of The Bull. He Attacked Arishtasur With The Horn And Struck Him, While The Demon Struggled On The Floor, Before Closing His Eyes For The Very Last Time.

Oh, This ? I Missed It On Purpose...Everyone Knows It Anyways, Not In The Form You Say, But The Story Is All The Same. And Really What's The Use Of Delaying The Wretched Last Update Of Vrindavan ? I Have To Write It Some Day.

Why skip?
And why do you think that it is the wretched last update of Vrindavana? From where do you think I get so many Leelas?

(Ok, I know that this is Mahabharat Thread... but even then, you can always come back to Vrindavana in the Leelas.😊)

Yeah, I Know That, But Mahabharat Is Too Big To Incorporate Those, Isn't It ?
