Since centuries my question has been ...as a woman, as a wife, as a mother...called with different names , ...why this second grade treatment to a woman in every event at every stage of her life ?Why ...Why ...being a life giver ..why should she live like a lifeless log!
What a powerful way of questioning it is Seetha 👏
We lost a scholarly writer with social awareness .😭😭
Again I am telling , you are a feminist by nature ,and a humanist
at core .

Thank you for posting this outstanding post 👏👏👏⭐️ about women's place in todays society, that she told through a story of Ganga...truly marvelous writing, full of emotions, facts and diffculties that women are facing in many societies, not only in India.

Seetha truly was a socialy aware, always ready to point on those problems that should be solved, and to help in solving them, any way she could...and as you said...Seetha was a feminist by nature and a humanist at core...that is so true...missing her so much 😭

Will finish this post later on, with some words of Seetha...

Thank you Avi 🤗 Love you ❤️

The bond between a mother and child is one of the strongest connections in nature.
The love a mother feel for her child is a basic part in nature , an inherent quality of a woman .
Seetha wrote a beautiful post on this unique but a permanent bonding between a mother and her son . Here it is ---

Posted: 03 April 2014 at 6:52am |

Mannu's Eyes Speak Volumes !!

The social importance of having a son is what led to the cruel act of Ratansingh ...plucking the tiny toddler from his mother;s embrace !

A mother's heart is wailing here ...holding her son's tiny hand ...watching him silently throughout his suffering hours in the night ...her soul is sobbing uncontrollably ...why ...why this curse? ...being a mother is a sin?

...' the cruel fate is trying to grab him from me ...putting off the glow of my eyes permanently, they are trying to lighten up their house with my funeral pyre ,...in the name of hierarchy!...Cant' live without Mannu...can't die leaving Abhimanyu'...with lifeless eyes, glaring into the dark night filled with void ...Ganga is thinking ...thinking about her past ...her son's foregone future ...the soul separating from her body ..

Suddenly she heard...a sweet voice...as if coming from the bottom of her heart..a small word.. MAAA !'...

With a quick ...sharp ...sudden movement she turned towards Mannu and looked in to his eyes...,those little big eyes are conveying ...the whole meaning of a cyclic birth...the attachments that come with it and the detachments one should develop to make life sustainable...in short, the whole philosophy of life!

She felt as if they are saying---.''.Maa...why are you worrying? I have been with you before my birth ... ...when I was in your womb like a tiny particle ...you visualised me with your soul's eye... sways in your thoughts ...swings in your smiles and hopes in your heart ! ...then I was not in this visible world ...but lived in your imaginary universe only !

Was I not with you then ?! ...

Maa...after birth ...for all these few years ... I have been with you...played in your lap...smiled when you were happy...often wiped your tears when you cried , with my tender fingers ...tagging on to you all through the bad and good moments ,... filled your whole being with my thoughts I know, as long as you live ...you want to be with me! I lived with you so long and got the love ...enough for me for this life! ...

Why are you crying Maa...here I am losing my canopy of love, protection and solace ! I have to cry ...but ...but life is demanding ...commanding me to move away from you ! I am the loser Maa... yes I agree, my gains and losses are yours only ...they have an impact on you with double effect... ... I know... I know ...you lost everything , lost the meaning of your life itself ...but ...but one day it is bound to happen... our separation.. for good or bad ...whether in the full tenure of my life in your shadow, or in the forcibly curtailed association, seemingly destined as of now !..

I existed only in your thoughts before my birth...but now I shall always live in your heart and your thoughts as well ! Always within you ...always alluring you ...a part of you ... a past participle / particle of you !!...just like looked , lost !!!

But I know, I am the reason for your happiness and I am the reason for your sorrow!Sorry,Maa!!" ---

Totally agree, Mannu's eyes speak volumes !

"the soul separating from her body .."

"my gains and losses are yours only"

" I am the reason for your happiness and I am the reason for your sorrow!

These lines really touched me ! You have verbally penned down Ganga's thoughts, but what's much more striking is Mannu's heart-warming feelings, kids may not speak but they have an ocean of unspoken feelings that they express through eyes.

You are an amazing poetic writer.

@ SEETHA.K...ocean of unspoken feelings that they express through eyes.----
Yes ...you are right ... just like ...it comes on waves ebbing ..and flowing back smoothly ...but like the under current ...a child is quite capable of understanding his mother's feelings since infancy !
but a mother's grief is like an ocean too...for the naked eye ...it looks calm ...but volcanoes and tempests are there within ...can't cross the bank ...have to swallow the storms and live with the volcanic eruptions...like an ocean !!
That is the paradox in a woman/mother's life !!!

@tellygeek ...Lovely Seetha. Yesterday while I was watching Ganga-Mannu scene, I remembered your beautiful words from this post, and the scene had much more impact on me.

Very well written poem Seetha
@SEETHA.K-- Yes...whenever we try to express our sentiments and sensitive feelings on Mother ...it will definitely become a beautiful poem !
The beauty lies in the subject itself !!!

@tellygeek--
Beauty lies in the subject, very true, but it can be interpreted in different ways. It requires a poetic composition like yours to build an expressive path to unveil its real beauty. I am learning a lot from your posts, thank you Seetha.

When you get the time, please also write your thoughts about Jagya on Mannu and Ganga on similar lines, will be a pleasure to read a father's feelings.

The entire Nature offers itself to her imagination .
A wounded heart will heal in time, and when it does, the memory and love of our lost ones is sealed inside to comfort us.
While walking on an unknown path , suddenly if we come across a precious diamond , how happy we feel !
Here is another post of Seetha , it shows her interest in social issues relevant to present day world .

Posted: 04 May 2014 at 1:57am |

In every one of us ... in most of the women in the society ...there are traces of Anandi. Bravery , conscience ...a sort of moral sense of right and wrong that acts as a guiding force to one's behavior ...a sense of social responsibility prevails in all of us !

Since a few decades ...the standard of moral values in the society are deteriorating and getting downgraded because of political bigwigs and highly placed people ! That is one aspect ...the other and more important one is ... the raising of the ugly head of religious fundamentalism and blind faith in archival traditions.

Also, in the implementation of social norms there is a visible disparity between males and females ! I wish today's real life Anandis draw more power and strength from their inner self rather than support from outside world ! Dedication and determination to safeguard the girl child are the need of the hour ! But to make a difference, one has to muster courage and intervene in an appropriate manner at an opportune time .

Dear friends , we all know that Seetha loved the game Cricket so much ,and this is another OS on that sport written by her . She knows how to weave a story on any subject .

A big match is in progress in The Dreamers'Paradise Stadium!!

Today another crucial day for the JJ team !

They have to win this match , to qualify for the next round of the competition !

Prats' talent was recognised in the previous match and she is elevated in the batting order !

With Shiv she put up a 91 runs partnership and her individual score is on 42 !

They need 12 runs to win the match...last over is in progress...

Sid scored 1 run and now Prats is facing the second ball !...11 to go!

She pushed the ball into the mid off region and scored one more run !

10 runs to win...Shiv is facing the ball...from the stands Sidyushians are shouting SIX ...

SIX...and some people FOUR ...FOUR...Big smile

The entire Dreamers' Paradise Stadium is reverberating with the wishful thinking and festive music...

Third ball is bowled and Sid managed to get only one run...and now Prats has to face the next ball...9 more required...3 balls to go!

Entire stadium got tensed up!... people are on their toes...now Prats has to score at least 1 run

And she has to give the strike to Shiv ...fourth ball is going to be bowled..

Before that Shiv nodded to her and she walked in to the middle of the pitch and Shiv told her

Anandiji...we have to win this match...so please take a run and give me strike...'

Prats said...'Shiv, yesterday evening at Marina beach...you told me about the importance

Of this match !I know ...I know ...we have to win ...''---Smile

Shiv was watching her smiling face ...and he lost in to his thoughts!Wink

Yes ...yesterday evening ...they went to the Marina Beach, skirting a part of the Bay of Bengal... beautiful, elegant ,vibrant waves greeted them there ...on the longest natural beach in the country !---and the world's second largest !!

Shiv wanted to go in to the sea ... and play with water with her ...but She prevented him by telling that she is scared of the undercurrents !Wink

Shiv bought a maroon coloured Kanjivaram sari with a mustard colour boarder with some zari work... and presented it to her ...then she asked him

Collector Saab ...why this'...with a flash in his eyes he said ... this mustard and maroon combination suits you well...mustard reminds the golden rays adoring the morning sun !

The evening sun's maroon coloured rays strike a contrast with their golden glory in the morning ...displaying multiplicity and reminding us of the different shades the day transits!

I want to see both the shades of the dusk and the dawn on your beautiful persona, Anandiji ...'

He told her as if he was talking in his dream !!

With a glow in her face she accepted the gift from him and said .. I will wear this in our victory party after the final.. shiv!'

Drenched with dreams and full of emotions they returned to the hotel where the team members were staying with a gleaming spark in their faces while looking at each other !

...As if a continuation of the previous evening, there is a charm in his looks ...a magnetism in her smile ...in total, a glossy glow in their faces !

...suddenly they realized that they are in a mid-wicket conference .. and the stadium is engulfed with a pin-drop silence ...Day DreamingDay Dreaming

All the Sidyusians are awestruck by seeing their smiles and chemistry...Day Dreaming

but here is a problem for the rival captain...as,Confused

the bowler lost his concentration...while watching them in the middle ...

it suddenly struck to his mind ...his sister is an ardent supporter of SidYusha!

She used to narrate to him ...their on screen and off screen chemistry.. how they defined the nuances of love , without touching each other even with finger tips ...she was completely smitten by their acting skills ...and now he is witnessing it on his own ...and stunned ...lost his control on the ball...dropped it twice before bowling !!

The bowler ...bowled the fourth ball of the over and Prats flicked it gently and tried to take a run ...but because of the close-in fielding ...they denied her a run !... But, hold!.. The Umpire declared it as a no-ball as the bowler tress passed the bowling crease! Now, 8 runs of 2 balls! Is it possible? Can they do it?

Shiv is tensed up...and this time Prats gently nodded her head and Shiv came in to the middle of the pitch and looked into her eyes askance!...

She slowly nodded as if giving him an assurance and said ...

"Shiv...don't worry ... I will pray Kanhaji ...definitely he will show us a way...

With her eyes she touched his heart and that pumped up new blood in to his body ...but ..Anandi ..we have to score 8 runs in just two balls ...how ..'

before he said anything...she firmly moved in to her place and taken the fresh guard..

the bowler bowled the 5th ball and Prats executed a neat square drive and started running like a hare so as to score at least three runs ...so that Shiv can get the strike and hit a six to win the match !

But while collecting the ball and throwing towards the keeper he went off target and the ball steered away from the fielders and crossed the ropes!

Prats' individual score reached to 48, and they need 4 more runs to win and Prats is facing the last ball...there is an anticipation all around...for her fifty ...for a win ...

But she lost her concentration...this time Sid nodded and she went in to the middle..

Simply he looked in to her eyes reassuringly...she drew strength and confidence from his looks and went back.

The rival team captain is trying to calm down his bowler ... pleading with him not to see the magnetic chemistry of Sidyusha and concentrate on the game !!

The last ball is bowled ... but it slipped out of his hand and instead ,went behind his back ...the bowler stood there with blank looks ! the ball was null and void !

Then his captain went to the bowler and asked him to concentrate again ! ...

Here he goes.. for the last time in the innings... the last ball... he wanted to bowl a googly but it slipped and ended up as a full toss .. Prats took a deep breath and taking the ball in the middle of the bat heaved it high and...LO! ... it went over the fence!.. a HUGE SIX !!

A fifty for Prats,... A win for her team... A place in the play offs.. An award for Prats !

A special BEST PARTNERSHIP award was declared for Shiv and Pratyusha by the Queen of Dreamland !

Yes!!!!At last we are aware of it , our Freedom now , more than earlier ! We are very much aware of our RIGHTS but we are not recognizing our responsibilities. Lack of education...zero tolerance towards fellow citizens and selfishness at its peak ..are main reasons for our sad state of affairs When are we going to change????? Is it not high time to be humane towards women...girls and kids?

Enormous manpower...equal quantity of diversity...lack of unity -- making us powerless, to rectify the social inequalities. Whenever there is a ray of hope in the horizon; politicians put their illogical blanket on it and A Big Thud ---TOTAL SILENCE. Here intellectuals are considered as nomads.

In our childhood Teachers taught us to be honest and never push us for competition...they taught us how to win through truthfulness. But today teachers are giving training to win over others by any means.
There were honest politicians who were involved in freedom struggle. They were very much aware of the value of the freedom, because they know what the slavery is ...what the deprivation of freedom of speech is . Today we have enormous freedom..to be frank , more than what it is required...media is playing like a puppet in the hands of political parties...not giving the actual picture of the realities. We the INDIANS need some discipline.

Seetha wrote these lines in a beautiful rhythmical way . Her poetry is always musical for the ears, soothing to our hearts and , thought provoking and highly meaningful too .The theme of her poem here is life's sojourns in the transient migrations ,facing those with a smile !But at the same time , she narrated the hesitations in the journey and deriving encouragements from the Nature , to cross the path with ease ,to move forward in the life . There is a longing in her heart , to witness , to emulate ,to swallow , to unite with the nature ,narrated the beautiful surroundings while travelling .

The most beautiful part , in a way a visual in front of our eyes is -

Watching and with that ecstatic state , hiding beneath her eyelids , "that froth on the rims of waves in the ocean" , --so subtle her feelings are , shows her keenness in observing every small detail in the Nature .

In a way it is a colourful painting in front of our eyes , so real that picture is !

A great poem indeed . I wish if possible they give us some more of her published poems to us, in this place .

Seetha's poem, published & printed in Andhra Bhoomi Weekly Magazine...

Here is a translation of the poem, written by Seetha, herself...long ago...

Pravaasa Haasam [Ecstasy in life's migration]

[ Printed in Andhra Bhoomi Weekly Magazine ]

In the life's sojourn we know not the beginning or the ending of the journey !

On the way, resting for a while in every floral garden narrating its own stories !

Greeted by... the sweet melodies of the cuckoo ... the swaying of the branches,

The delicate touch of the bees that make the flowers so happy ,

And the secret tunes in the longing life...

Touch my heart like the passing clouds with lightning touch the sky !

Recollecting those memories time and again,

Feels as if some one is saying let's move forward'

Which made me stand, stunned like a statue!

I got the life's invitation and started my journey again ,

Where am I heading?

What do I have to see in this transient migration ?

May be to see the froth on the rims of waves in the ocean !

And to hide that ecstasy , those feelings beneath my eyelids !!!
