Tapping my fingers mindlessly, I sit by the window and scour the faces of the crowd rushing past until I can recognise yours.
My ever moving hands are in rhythm to the clock on the cafe wall, the sound of the monotonous ticking being the only thing that will reach my ears until I see you before me.
We agreed to meet at 4pm, on the dot you had promised. Yet it is exactly 4:17pm and you are still not here.
My lips shift into the ghost of a smirk as I recall your lack of punctuality, a habit as stubborn as yourself that you have carried with you throughout the years. You'd always keep me waiting impatiently, mindlessly, mercilessly, with a thousand and one doubts pulsating through my mind like blood pulsates through one's veins contemplating reasons for your absence.
I always wondered, and still wonder to this very minute, if you were aware of how you keep me so impatiently waiting. Did you know that I would willingly wait for you, whether it be a matter of seconds or a few lengthy years?
Then the wooden door opens with a chime, and your forever beautiful face crinkles into an apologetic smile as you attempt to brush through your windswept hair with your fingers.
Did you know that I'd always waited for you?
The sparkle in your hazel eyes gave me my answer.
Yes, you did.

__________

Just a little something I thought of whilst procrastinating from studying,

Kalam.
