Quietly she walked over the dead leaves that paved her way; the gentle sounds of them crushing under her feet filling the silence of the dark night. She clutched her scarf tightly around her as if that would protect her from the unknown.
She took every step with great caution, her soft brown eyes looking over to make sure no one was there.
The thick blanket of darkness enveloped her as she moved further into the woods, closer to the mysteries the dark held. She found comfort there as the dark eluded her from the sane ones.
She took another step and then stopped as she heard a low breathing sound. Placing a thin hand at the bark of the tree she leaned in to hear more closely and she could clearly make out irregular breathing besides her own filling the dead of the night.
It was him she knew; the one.
Her lips slowly curved into the slightest of smile at the thought. She started to move forward but then stopped; no she couldn't dare go there but then what was she doing here? She had vowed to herself not to come here after what had happened yet she was here again, and so was he she thought.
She leaned a bit further hoping to catch his glimpse but she couldn't see him. Yet she could feel him, she could still hear the silent beats of his marred heart in her own.
A single tear rolled down her cheek as she thought about him, the past. No, she would not fall weak again she thought and willed herself to go back but then she heard his cry or was it the wind? She forced herself to turn around and leave but her body disobeyed her just as her heart had before.
Hugging her slender frame firmly she leaned against the cold tree, stopping herself from going further. She hoped the silent night would bury her secret in its sinister folds, the sane ones would never know what her trembling heart still felt.
She had to move quickly, away from this place, away from him, from her own heart that would soon betray her.
She started to move just as the wind whispered his words to her; she gulped down a sob as her whole body shuddered with pain of his. The urge to be near him took over again but this time she did not resign to it but let fate take its course as she flitted into the quiet of the night.

She was near he could feel it, the sound of her soft steps he could recognize even from far. He turned slightly to look just as a hooded figure leaned from behind a tree. He could only make out a dark silhouette but he knew it was her. A surge of pain rushed through him, he felt restless again. Why had she come here? He wished she hadn't, he wished almost that he hadn't met her in the first place. She was the dream he had dared to wake up from.
He shook his head vehemently as if trying to erase the very thought of her but it only intensified the pain. His eyes flew open as he felt a drop of moistness on his cheek. He touched the little droplet, watching it with shocked eyes as if the tear did not belong to him; for it really felt that her pain was flowing through him.
The strong sense of longing filled him again just as pain and anguish of past washed over. He wanted to be there with her, hold her close for she belonged to him but he couldn't. Helplessness he had never known before flooded through him; clenching his fists he opened his mouth to let out the scream that chocked him but no sound came. The pain kept growing with no escape.
His sharp eyes turned to the side as he felt her moving closer yet with certainty he knew she would not come. He could go to her but the guilt weighed him down, so much that he could feel it pushing him further into the emptiness.
Soon she disappeared into the shadows just the way she had come.
He closed his eyes, letting go every thought and found himself being lost in the oblivion.
