Sanjeet to play cricket's equivalent of Kabir Khan
Sanjeet Bedi, who is currently seen in Virrudh, is playing a cricket coach in his new show Jersey No. 10. His character Shivi has many similarities to that of Shah Rukh's Kabir Khan in Chak De.
Describing his role, Sanjeet tells us, "I play a fast bowler turned coach of an academy and everyone one is asking me the same question – Is my character similar to Kabir Khan? Yes, my character is inspired from Chak De. When everyone starts comparing you with Shah Rukh, you can only say wow!'
On how the two roles are similar, he says, "I am ex-player of the Indian cricket team. And, like In the film, an incident takes place which forces me to be away from the game for a few years."
But Sanjeet is quick to add, "The approach to my character is totally different and very exciting. This man lives his dreams and is a mature person who talks less."
Essaying the role of a cricket coach is not easy according to Sanjeet. "Being an Indian, I love cricket a lot but portraying those anxieties and talking about technical aspects of the game is not easy. The good part though is that now I can tell everyone I'm playing cricket because it is my part of work," quips the actor.
How has been his shooting experience so far? "I have worked with Cinevistaas before but working with new kids is always fun. You get back your passion by looking at them and their enthusiasm boosts you."
Sanjeet was seen in Thodi Si Zameen Thoda Sa Aasman with Smriti Irani which ended recently. In Virrudh, he is playing a negative role for the first time.
