Viraasat in trouble

Mismanagement on the sets of the serial might compel actors to quit

Sapana Patil Poojary

There's trouble on the sets of Viraasat. Though trivial it may seem, the actors are irritated nonetheless. So much so that some of them are actually planning to bid farewell to this mega serial.

According to sources, "There is no one from the production house present on the sets to attend to them. The actors are thus clueless about whom to contact for whatever they require. Most of the actors act in several serials at a time. Sometimes the re-takes of a scene continue for the entire day, which adds to the frustration."

An actor on condition of anonymity says, "Surprisingly, there is neither a creative head nor a production head of the serial. There is no one to guide us about our schedule, costumes or scenes. We only take the director's orders. Things move very slowly as we witness in the government offices. And the worst part is that, they not even pay us on time. It is more of a communication problem than a management one."

As another insider adds, "Once I asked one of the unit members to get my costume altered. He simply refused saying that they have not been told to do so. On the other hand, I was briefed that I could choose whichever costume I wanted. It's annoying to see how small things like getting the air conditioner switched off or a little alteration in costumes can cause such long delays. For every small thing we need to call the supervising producer. On the days when the two units work simultaneously, then everything goes berserk. It is not that problems are not there elsewhere, but it gets soved in due time. It is high time for the producers to understand our problems, else we would quit."

However, Ravi Chopra refutes all allegations. "We have everything in order. There are designers, an executive producer and other helpers, required on the sets. We have been in the industry for long. I am in touch with the actors always and often visit the sets." Apparently, Chopra arranged for a person who takes responsibility for costumes.
