sony vegas does not convert videos.. you can use 'zamzar.com' for that or download a video converter... zamzar is a good realiable site but it can take sometime before it emails you the final format [max: 1 day emailing and then expires after 24 hrs the email has been sent]

other video converters such as 'total video converter' works fine and you get it instantly on your desktop/whereever you saved it but sometimes it doesn' always convert and you have to something else... thats just by chance though...

sony vegas basically makes videos for mixes etc.. you can also mix audio and stuff.. YOU CAN CONVERT FORMAT ONLY IF IT CAN BE IMPORTED TO VEGAS! which means.. you can convert .mov to .wmv etc [this can be done by rendering it as a diff. file extension].. but if it won't even come into vegas then you cannot convert it ..like you cannot import .flv into vegas..so you'll have to convert .flv to something else before getting it into vegas to use
