Amri - I agree with what you are saying. There must've been some inherent flaw with her character. But as per history, she was married to Shivaji at a very tender age ... probably less than 10. At that age children are extremely territorial. They only care about what is mine vs. what is yours. I am just saying that she wasn't mature enough to know the difference between right and wrong. She never got the opportunity to learn values and ethics from her parents. She literally grew up at her husband's house where she had to deal with only her mother-in-law/grand-mother-in-law. And come what may, their behavior can never be as fluid as your own mother/grandmother. They will judge you/critique you more harshly as compared to your own parents. As as she was growing up, all she had to deal with was competition. Some may argue that she could've learned from her surroundings, but then I still think that psychologically, child marriage and polygamy were a main reason for her deterrent behavior. Believe it or not, but Shivaji's personal life was plagued with kitchen politics between his 8 wives ... He loved Sayeebai the most and could never forget her. THAT fueled even more hatred in Soyrabai's mind for Sambhaji, Sayee and Shivaji's son.
