It is a very recent development. In order to make English more gender-neutral, "their" is used in place of "his" as was done before. People need to be into reading in order to know that. 😉

If I said that, (though I doubt), it was a typo. Shabd to suna hoga?

But "their" was correct. Ask any English teacher or journalist. Hazam hone mein thoda der hogi, tab tak apni naak ka ilaj karwa lo.
