TOI:It feels good to b married-Nandish

Telly heartthrob Nandish Sandhu on the love of his life, Rashami Desai, his blissful married life and more in a chat with TOI

Nandish Sandhu aka Veer of Uttaran is basking in his happily married status. Nandish who recently married costar Rashami Desai looks every bit in love and is enjoying this new phase in his life. The popular actor was in Ahmedabad recently when TOI caught up with him for a friendly chat. Nandish who's been to the city many times before, says he still hasn't done the "tourist" bit and would now "would love to eat at a popular joint that serves Gujarati thaali."

Nandish and Rashami had a simple court marriage a few months back and were tight lipped about their marital status. Ask him why the couple was reluctant about disclosing such an important fact and he says, "The shoot schedule was so hectic that we didn't have time for a big wedding with all the necessary rituals. Finally when we had some time we had a proper wedding." Post his wedding, Nandish is happy that he has a family now and says life with Rashami is "beautiful. Earlier I felt lonely. Now that I am married, it feels good. At the same time, there's not a major difference in our bond. Our love story still feels new and fresh." For someone who never thought he could be Friends with his co-star Rashami, it was quite a surprise he found love in her. "We never thought we would be even friends, forget love. But, as we started to interact on a regular basis, we became great friends and then love happened," he says with a smile. "Uttaran has given me a lot in life - name, fame and love of my life."

Describing his relationship with Rashami, Nandish feels that an understanding partner is the most essential need of a good marriage. He feels happy that Rashami is a mature individual and there is no room for jealousy or possessiveness when they work with other actors. He says, "We know our jobs well. Since we are from the same profession, we never create any turbulence for each other and focus on our work." Rashami had to quit the show recently which came as a shock to viewers, considering she was an important character in the show. Nandish confesses that "Rashami had to manage the entire wedding on her own. She had applied for a month's leave and had requested the producers to replace her if the story demanded her presence. But she is no longer in the show."

Nandish started his career as a model and always wanted to be a part of showbiz. He says, "I auditioned for some production houses, and got small roles in daily soaps, but, it is Uttaran that has got me recognition."

Reportedly, the soap is taking a leap, and Nandish will be playing father to teenagers. Does he feel comfortable playing father? He says, "I'm a little reluctant about this leap and not sure if I will be able to justify it or not. So, producers have given me an option of quitting the show if I'm uncomfortable. I have not yet decided what I am going to do."
