Apart from Damini and Madhura, none of the Uttaran-ladies are shown to pursue individual careers.[Both Ichcha and Tappu are contented to be financially dependant on men,and the only occasion they cared to work for a living were when they were without men and money!]O.K.,I can understand the psyche of the mothers[of Veer and Tappu] and Nani as well. They belong to the conservative class of tradition-bound women who weren't trained to think beyond the arena of home-making and child-rearing.But what about Tappu and Ichcha? Both are educated women of today's age.So why aren't they interested in carving out independant,well-defined careers for themslves instead of being embroiled in petty personal/family issues?Tapasya was once interested in Modelling.Didn't she even win First Prize in a Beauty Contest? And Ichcha's stint as a social worker, interested in educating slum-children,was quite admirable.Wasn't her name even highlighted in the local newspaper ?Then, why were the two women shown to gradually drift away from what seemed to be promising careers for them? All through their lives, the fate and fortunes of both Ichcha and Tappu have remained intricately entangled with the fate, fortune, welfare, will and whims of the men in their lives,be it Veer,Vansh,Jogi Thakur or Rathore! CONTINUED FROM ABOVE...When Ichcha married Vansh, her sole attention was focussed on playing the part of the perfect ''pati-vrata''wife,serving and waiting upon her hubby, day and night, all thoughts of social service abandoned. To please Vansh's fancies Ichcha was metamorphosed to a decked-up doll. And when Vansh died she underwent another make-over,donning the widow's white saree.Leaving behind all worldly attractions, especially that of Veer's,she scurried off to Vrindavan. But attractions proved stronger and once again Ichcha returned to household chores and seductively-worn sarees.[Now,at least she looks better in salwars.] On the other hand,Tappu was seen to play the role of a jobless vamp, first dumping her not-so-rich lover,in order to wed the very rich Veer.On being dumped by Veer and turned out of doors, she went on to bump into Rathore ,who, first violated her modesty, then offered to marry her. Finally,Tappu found a permanent refuge.Clearly, the life-stories of both Ichcha and Tappu display their helpless dependance on men as well as their inability to support themselves when they are on their own.In this modern tech-age why do these women behave like pitiable damsels of some bygone era?!!!😳😕

true! they could have shown Ichcha to still continue with her teaching. there was no answer to whatever happened to her school. at one point she was so concerned about 1 child that she even accompanied him to that drug rehab centre. how could someone so dedicated just forget the school and kids!!!
