The meaning of Uttaran? - Page 2

Heyy...

Even I got confused by the show's title!

But I think it might mean both you know...

When I first heard of uttaran...I read it as..."uttar-an"...u know uttar mean north...which is up...so I thought of it as "going up" or progressing... something like that

But the discared clothes thing is also true....

But maybe the title signifies both...Ichcha getting discarded hand me downs and always getting over-used dreams..and yet she always is dreaming of higher things...

She uses the discarded dreams of others..to deam her own higher dreams...

Uttran means- Something which is used by u and then thrown off....

I cant explain in a single word... !!

Thats why its an apt title for the show as Iccha uses things/clothes which are leftovers or thrown when they get old....

I will explain the meaning of uttaran

People give their old clothes and other things to their servants after using them……

For the servants, whatever things they get from their masters is an "uttaran" for them.

For ex………if a maid says that"ye dress meri madam ki uttaran hai"

It means her employer has worn the dress several times and when it was torn or it bcomes too old. She gave it to her mail to wear.

So the maid is wearing her madam's uttaran.

Just like ichcha always get tapasya's uttaran……..like the used clothes, old toys etc
