I personally am a believer in rituals and mantras and divinity of traditional marriage. Suraj and Chakor were married with all the rituals albeit with bride swap twist which Chakor considered a nightmare. later both of them accepted that marriage and were grateful to it. in their hearts that marriage became legal and moral. fair enough.
and then came divorce. So they should have married again to be considered as husband and wife in legal and moral standing.
did i love this 'gandharva' marriage? Yes i did. for its sheer simplicity, beauty, emotions and feelings. Vintage SuKor. Do i think it is legal and valid? No i don't.
Do i approve of 'C' that followed it? Most definitely NOT.
NOT because i am a prude but because Suraj and chakor themselves think that marriage doesn't stand up in societal and legal judgements. otherwise they would have declared loud and proud that 'yes! we are married' to everyone in azadgunj.
instead they are hiding it and want to get married again. and more often than not if we are hiding something.. we do it because it is wrong. If marriage is wrong how could the 'C' that followed it be right?
we can say .. love, emotions and why care about the world when 'love' is there?
agreed. all they wanted to do was to claim each other's souls. that they did through that marriage. what was the need for 'C' then?
love can't be excuse here simply because Suraj and Chakor's love is on whole new plane. Their love encompasses whole village. Suraj became jagatpita courtesy that love. so when the entire village is rooting for their marriage and union.. is it not insulting to their feelings and sentiments if SuKor were to move forward with their relationship in such a secret way? that would be beneath Suraj and especially Chakor as a character.
the BEST moment to solemnize the marriage from beginning to end would have been the love confession time in that gazebo. (without the nightmare of car night, imli's ghost and above all the bachua and Imvaan sequence shoved in between).
the whole sequence would have gone down in history as most romantic sequence ever. it would have quelled 'Suraj didn't rise to the occasion. it was Chakor's moment all the way'... grudge too.
but then again this is Udaan.
Cvs write what they please. either randomly or to tie it up with Imli somehow.
This 'C' too will be tied up with Imli.
or will go the usual troupe way. Pregnancy, memory loss, MU yada yada.
there was a time we had faith in Cvs.. the loops holes will be plugged; the mess will be cleared; the loose ends will be tied.
now we have no faith in Cvs. oh wait we do have faith in them - that they will screw up.
so we can wait for that screw up as usual and then can proudly declare 'we knew it.'. and if by miracle Cvs don't... we can be pleasantly surprised.
