Chapter 1
Chakor was awoken by the sound of someone banging relentlessly on the door. It took her awhile to realise she had fallen asleep on the floor in a sitting position with her head resting on the bed. She leapt up as the scenes from last night played in her head; ending up married to Suraj, Imli and Vivaan's anger, everything. She rushed towards the door, hoping against hope that Vivaan was on the other side. She threw open the door to a glaring Suraj standing there.
"What are you doing here?" Chakor asked angrily, as Suraj sauntered into the room, "Don't forget, this is my room. I can walk in and out any time I want to, consider yourself lucky I let you stay here last night on your own." He headed towards the bathroom, but Chakor stepped in front of him. "Get o..." Suraj didn't let her finish the sentence, "I need to use the bathroom, my bathroom." He walked into the bathroom and shut the door.
Who did he think he was? Chakor glared at the door and walked over to the bed. She picked up one of the pillows and threw it against the wall in anger. It only hit the wall and fell on the floor in front of the sofa. She walked to the dressing table, looking at herself in the mirror. How had it come to this? She stared at her reflection, her make-up was smudged beyond repair and her hair looked like a terrible mess; but it was the red on her forehead that caught her attention. The sight of her sindoor made her anger rise. She tried to rub it off but instead of coming off, it just smudged. What was she going to do? Crying wouldn't help, she told herself. She needed to talk to Vivaan. Sure he had been angry and unreasonable last night but surely now he would understand, he did love her after all.
"Vivaan Babu..." Vivaan who had been pacing the room turned to look at Imli. "Imli, before you say anything, let's talk to Chakor. I'm sure she has an explanation for all this..." Imli shook her head softly, "What explanation could didi possibly have?"
Suraj stood in the shower, thinking about how he had managed to turn the tables on Chakor. She thought she could replace Tina Raichand with her servant of a sister and get away with it...but ended up being his golden egg-laying hen instead. He smirked; he might actually enjoy this more, after all marriage to Tina would have been strictly a business deal. Now however he would get the added benefit of torturing his enemy whenever he wanted to.
Somehow Vivaan had convinced Imli to hear Chakor's side of things. Imli still wasn't sure though, after all who else could have done the swap? There was really no other logical explanation and didi was always against the idea of Imli and Suraj being together...but then again she had been so happy to get married to Vivaan, claiming to love him. She walked up the stairs following Vivaan not knowing what to think.
A knock jolted Chakor out of her thoughts of meeting Vivaan. It was Vivaan this time! It had to be! She ran towards the door but her dupatta got caught on the edge of something. In a hurry Chakor didn't even realise what was happening, her thoughts solely focused on explaining everything to Vivaan. She threw off her dupatta, which landed on the couch and opened the door.
Suraj had just finished drying himself when he realized that he had forgotten to bring in his clothes. Luckily the pants he wore to sleep were somehow still in the bathroom, untouched since he hadn't worn them last night. He quickly put them on and opened the bathroom door walking out into the room and heading towards his closet.
"Vivaan, I knew you would come, I knew it! You have to believe me Vivaan..." Chakor said as she threw the door open completely.
Suraj stopped halfway at Chakor's statement just as Vivaan's and Imli's eyes took in the condition of the room and landed on a shirtless Suraj standing in the middle of the room in just his sleeping pants. "I was almost ready to believe you Chakor, but it's a good thing I came in here and saw the real scene." He snapped. "I can't believe you would do this to me didi, even after knowing everything." Imli said in angry tears. Chakor gave them a confused look but turned around. The bed which had been covered in rose petals looked slept in because of the way she had messed it all up in anger. Her jewelry was messily thrown onto the bedside table. If that hadn't been enough, Suraj stood in the middle of the room, not wearing a shirt, his hair completely messed up from drying it of course, but it might look like something else entirely to someone who didn't know he was fresh out of the shower.
"It's not what it..." Chakor tried to explain, her desperation coming through. But Vivaan cut her off "Look at yourself Chakor, your current state says everything..." Suraj walked to them, throwing Chakor's dupatta at her. "Next time before you open our bedroom door, make sure you're dressed properly." Chakor quickly wrapped the dupatta around herself as Vivaan and Imli looked at her and Suraj in disgust. Turning to them Suraj continued, "Why are you two looking at us like that? We are married, and this is our bedroom." He casually put his arm around her waist and smirked at Vivaan and Imli. Chakor threw his arm off, "Tell the truth Suraj!" Her voice was a mixture of desperation and anger. "I'm not lying," Suraj shrugged casually before continuing, "this is our bedroom and we are married." Chakor looked at him in disbelief. "Come on Imli, let's go!" Vivaan said angrily before walking off with Imli following him. "Vivaan, Imli...Please listen..." Chakor made a move to follow them but Suraj grabbed her by the arm and closed the door.
"I thought you had more sense than to throw open the door while you were in that state?" Chakor looked at him angrily throwing his hand off her arm. "How could you Suraj? How could you imply to Vivaan that..." Suraj stopped her, "I didn't imply anything to Vivaan. I didn't mess up the bed, or arrange' your jewelry like that, or smudge your makeup and your sindoor, or mess up your hair for that matter. I didn't ask you to remove your dupatta either or open the door like that." Chakor glared at him, "Instead of explaining the situation to him, you said..." Suraj gave her his trademark smirk, "Point one, I don't owe that rat Vivaan any explanation, two, I said we were married and this was our bedroom, both of which are true. I never said we did anything in here. Vivaan came to that conclusion by himself." With that Suraj walked to his closet. Chakor stared at him suspiciously...she had a gut feeling that something was wrong. If Suraj had indeed been tricked into marrying her, he wouldn't be behaving this calmly. He would have thrown a fit and definitely would have thrown her out of the house last night. Suraj grabbed a t-shirt and turned around, "Enjoying the view?" He pulled the t-shirt on just as Chakor opened her mouth to begin a tirade. "And now, dharampatniji; as much as I would love to stay here and model for you, there are a few things I have to take care of." Suraj walked out of the room at that point, not giving Chakor the chance to stay a single word.
Suraj got into his jeep and made his way towards the baasti. He knew Chakor well enough to know that if he didn't get there first and turn everyone against her by putting on a show, she would try and get their support. If he truly wanted to benefit from national marathon champion Chakor...now Mrs. Chakor Suraj Rajvanshi, he had to first make her lose her support system. Luckily, after the way things had played out last night, it wouldn't take much to make it happen.
Chakor stared at the open doorway. Someone had left her things, which had previously been in Vivaan's room here in the hall, next to the door. She decided to change and head back to her parent's house. Over there she would think of a way to end this nightmare and fix everything. She quickly showered and got dressed, while thinking about how she would explain everything to Mai-Baapu. Last night no one had believed her, but now, if she explained someone had to.
