Twilight stars to host conventions in major cities

Twilight stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and the rest of the cast could be getting up close and personal with fans very soon.

Taking a page from the cult success of the "Star Trek" franchise, "Twilight" movie producer Summit Entertainment is planning to launch a series of conventions for Twilight fans over the next three years during the course of the flim series' run.

They will feature onstage appearances by "Twilight" celebrities, screenings of exclusive footage, panel discussions, parties, musical performances, costume and trivia competitions, auctions, autographing, merchandising and photo opportunities.

The first convention will be held just outside New York, Aug. 28 at the Hilton Parsippany Hotel in Parsippany, N.J..
