What was your first impression of Twilight? Did you think that it was a good introduction to the series? Why or why not?
Well I really wanted to read it cos all my friends were raving about how addictive it was and it didn't disappoint! It was totally un-put-down-able and was a brilliant first book, I definitely wanted to read on. It was definitely something different.
Why is it that Bella's blood calls to Edward more than anyone else?
I think its a combination of her sweet scent and her unique personality, she's so selfless etc and so intoxicating and intriguing to him
Why does Bella accept that fact that Edward is a vampire so quickly?
Well there are many hints, like how he saved her etc, he already looks too perfect to be human, coupled with his sometimes erratic behaviour so it wasnt a big step to take to believe him
What are your opinions about Bella & Edwards's relationship, and why?
Very beautiful, they complement each other. I like to hope there's such undying love stories in reality. 😍
Although bella cares much more for edward, do you think she is really lying to herself cuz she loves jacob?
I think the only reason she got so close to Jacob is beacause of the abscence of Edward, she loves Jacob as a friend and feels guilty for breaking his heart but would always choose Edward over Jacob 😃
What do you think the apple symbolizes on the cover?
Forbidden fruit, as Edward "shouldn't" be with Bella. It also made me think of bite as I connect apple with bite, and bite with vampire.
What was your first impression of the Cullens?
Loving! They have such a wonderful relationship between them. And of course beautiful too! 🤗
Did you find yourself able to relate to Bella in Twilight? If so, how?
Yes, in some ways. She's clumsy, with low self-esteem, reads a lot, shy sometimes, and like Bella, I wouldn't believe someone like Edward would fall in love with me. That said, the fact that Edward and Bella do fall in love kind of gives the rest of us some hope. 😛
Did this book change your view of vampires? If so, how? Is it a positive or negative change?
Definitely a change in a positive way. I used to think of vampires as the typical rather gruesome-looking male who lives in Transylvania. Now, whenever I think vampire, I think oooooh 😛
Edward and Bella are, of course, terrific characters. But the secondary characters are also great. Who is your favorite?
This is too hard a question. Esmes bcos she's so lovely, Alice cos she's so cute, Emmett cos he's so funny. The one character I liked better in the film was Chralie dunno why but really loved him in the film.
Do you think that Bella is a strong or a weak woman? Is she a good role model for young women? How does she fit with your view of feminism?
I reckon she was strong. She stuck by her choices and went through so much pain, especially in Breaking Dawn, giving birth and transformation must have been horrific. Her choices weren't always maybe right, so maybe she isn't the best role model but definitely a good woman. There was a discussion about her being anti-feminist, I definitely don't agree with that.
What about Edward as a role model for young men?
Perfect!! He's noble, brave, caring as a son, husband and father, corteous, always worries baout Bella etc so he has great qualities. I know so many girls who are trying to mould their boyfriends into Edward. 😆
Did the end of Twilight make you want to read New Moon?
Yes! I had to wait a week for my friend to lend it to me, that was torturous.
Is Rosalie's dislike of Bella justified? Why or why not?
She has a right to dislike Bella, because she believes she's making the wrong decision. It's frustrating to see Bella make the mistake (in her opinion) of dooming herself. Then again, Bella was right in her reasons.
Would it appeal to you to live forever? Why or why not?
If I had someone like Edward who I was totally in love with and him with me. Maybe when I was 18...so 2 years time...but yeah if I had love otherwise what would be the point
The author makes clear that vampires have to be very attractive to their prey, but do you think Edward is too perfect? Why or why not?
I don't think Edward's perfect and I like that about him. Of course, he's pretty close, with his truly-to-die-for looks, his love for Bella, his noble qualities etc. But I think he has falws too, like he can be a bit possessive, though I love that, and his willpower is not as strong as Carlisle's. Also, he is not truly selfless. But for me, he's absolutely fine! 😍
Fun discussion =D
