Veer's Decision to Divorce
Veer has taken a critical step here - the decision to divorce Pakhi. He is a lawyer, he knows the consequences on the kids, Jiji, and the fall out from his father's inheritance. The decision was not made on a whim - it has been thoroughly thought through.
There is no emotional connection between him and Pakhi
The friendship they shared has been muddled. He confessed his love to her - she interpreted it as lust. If he extends his hand to protect - she interprets it as taking advantage. No, in no way will they ever be able to resurrect the emotional connection and understanding that they shared during Ayaan's custody battle.
Without emotional connection they cannot grow as individuals or provide a stable environment for the kids. Besides Jiji will always cherish the hope that Veer and Pakhi should move ahead in their relationship and have kids!
Veer's desire for divorce is not an emotional reaction. It is based on self-awareness.
Veer may profess to love Pakhi - but he has in some ways distanced himself from her. We saw the distance yesterday when they had their private conversation and exchange of gifts on the terrace. We saw it today - when he did not feed Pakhi cake or have any expectations from her. Again, we saw the distance when he spoke about Pakhi to Lavanya and Girish. For Veer there is no hurt feelings or frustration - there is only the need for closure before the relationship sours.
Veer respects Pakhi (and is sensitive about the kids) and is making sure the transition of divorce is done with dignity. He does not want it to be riddled with anger and conflict. He does not want any negative emotion during the process because he views divorce as the opportunity to move on and rebuild their lives.
Veer wants a divorce. He is not using divorce to blackmail Pakhi into loving him.
Veer is not using divorce to threaten Pakhi into loving him for the sake of Ayaan. He is asking for divorce because he truly wants to free Pakhi from this awkward marriage. He wants her to be totally dedicated in her love for Anshuman.
Veer knows he has kids and that he is responsible for them. But he cannot let them dictate whether he should remain married to Pakhi or not.
Veer will need to help Ayaan and Rhea cope with the divorce.
Veer is aware of the emotional upheaval that the divorce will have on his kids. He is aware of the emotional support he will have to provide them in order to see them through.
How will the CVs take this forward - we have to wait and watch. So far the Veer they have built - is one who has realistic expectations, one who is honest with himself and others, and one who has courage, self-esteem, and respect. So, I expect him to be able to provide Rhea and Ayaan the support they need.
Why did he choose his birthday to do this?
He chose his birthday because that was a key date affecting the distribution of his father's inheritance. It was the deadline given by Jiji and perhaps that was the deadline he set up for completion (or near completion) of Anshuman's dream project.
