Daily soaps are not just about story telling, I think it is abt twisting/turning & stretching šthe story. That's a minor excuse, a simple but significant excuse to keep an audience engaged in the soap for a long time with lots of twists & turns. More than that, I think they are making us experience and also look for many things within and without ourselves, and around ourselves. This, I think is the function of the TV, or any art for that matter -- makes us aware (bach kar rehna aisa ho sakta hai!), makes us think (Wow, we r much better off in our own real world!) and is supposed to disturbs us positively/ negatively and creatively, to make us excited or sad about it, to make us responsive to things.
But turning Ved negative is really bad. I think people knowing the meaning and intensity of love would not be "deceiving." Love makes us go beyond imperfections and we become more sincere with our feelings, instead of misleading others. What should one say abt Ved?? Hai rubba!!!
