I think while fighting the case against malhar itself he found something vital that made him rethink

He must have got some clue that Malhar is innocent and something is not right about the scenario

Hence I think last minute he saved Malhar

100% agree. Even I thought it was odd. I am feeling like Kaka met with Trilok at somepoint and figured out what happened and told Malhar about it who was probably dying in guilt.

I'm still not sure on what basis AS was able to demote Malhar. Was it something like Kaka acquitted him of murder cause the body was not found but he still fired the gun, which is government gun, without cause so that's grounds for a demotion?

I don't think the actor playing Trilok will be back on the show. I think it will be Kaka that tells Kalyani that it was Trilok that shot her and what really happened to their child. I think it will only be after that Kalyani stands up to AS.

Yep, I think his health wouldn't have deteriorated so much if he had some hope left of at least one of the two most important people in his life that he lost of still being alive for the past 5 yrs. Kalyani doesn't fully believe he's dead, because otherwise why would she ask for that police file re: Pillu's case... clearly she wants to see how the investigation was conducted and see if anything was left untried, looking for some hope for her prayers to be answered.

Anyways I can't wait for the scene where Mallu scolds Avni for having worn Kalyani's jhumka, which I believe will give us more insight on who Avni is, what her motives are and maybe be the beginning of her obsession with getting Malhar at all costs, simply because she's papa ki bigdhi huwi aulad.
