There is literally no comparison between Sampada and Kalyani for Malhar. Malhar treated Sampada like a queen, blindly trusted her even when he doubted her, gave her everything he could, and she still betrayed him in the worst way possible. Kalyani, he treated horribly in the beginning, forced her into a marriage at 18, but she never left his side no matter how tough it got. Even during the naxatile track, she moved heaven and Earth to rescue him. She put up with all his trust issues and anger, and despite everything never once considered leaving him. That's why he's unable to believe now that she is leaving him of her own free will. He's madly in love with her, because she stuck by him through thick and thin, she's someone he'll never be able to get over. And he knows there is something very fishy here.

I said this in a post a long time ago, but it is the same reason why Kalyani can never let go of Anu. She stuck by Kalyani when she had every reason to hate her, loved and took care of her when everyone else ditched her. That type of selfless love changes your life, and you can't let go of it.
