I think the creatives have done a good thing by introducing Freida particularly at this point of the serial. I feel in order to bring variety and freshness, they first tried to introduce the character Bharti to do the same with her chatpati conversation, but the character could not gather much applause as people were very adamant with a slight hint that she could come in between Yug and Vrinda.
Freida's entry is like a fresh breath to the serial, with no tension that she will come in between Yug and Vrinda (the creatives played safe here and publicised that) and also she will provide a comic angle to the serial with her partner Teji, when all the Yuvi fans are brooding how and when Yuvi will unite... That could be one of the reasons of her character being such well received over Bharti's character...
Also, not to ignore that the lady portraying Freida looks very apt for the NRI character
