Ekta Kapoor has decided to keep mum and stay away from the media and public appearances

No press, parties and public functions, only confidential work that too with her handpicked team members. This self imposed exclusion from the limelight is not a calculated move to buy time and television space. In fact her astrologer has suggested that being in exile at least from the media glare, is expected to be beneficial for her stars. A source close to the TV tycoon says, "Ekta's family astrologer Janardhan advises Ekta and her family on all personal and business matters. Ekta always listens to Janardhanji. So far she hasn't made any move against his advice and sees no reason to disobey him this time too. Going by his words, she will keep away from the limelight especially the media for the stipulated time." Meanwhile, Balaji Telefilms has undergone a major shakeup. "For a long time Ekta was working with people who she thought could be trusted to carry the company forward. Many of them have let her down. She has now relieved many top-rankers of their duties and brought in key people and hopes to make the company's plans, procedures and vision more participative and collaborative. Appointing a new CEO, who replaced her uncle Ramesh Sippy, was a big step towards putting Balaji Telefilms back on its feet. At the moment she's planning three films and two new TV shows and yet keeping quiet about it," says the source. As for the much discussed feud with Star, she still has shows on the channel. "In fact some of her serials on the channel like Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil and Tujh Sang Preet Lagai are doing very well. She may soon do another new show for them. Far from licking her wounds Ekta is planning a major fund of films and serials in 2009-2010." When we tried to contact Ekta, it seemed that she had already begun to follow her astrologer's advice on keeping her maun vrat. So it's no talking for Ekta, not, at least, till Janardhanji waves the green flag. |
