Loved Kanum nok-jhok scenes in the beginning. It was funny seeing Uma ride a rickshaw-like thing and treat Kanak to an ice-cream cone, the English rap kinda thing preceding the song was even weirder😃. But I was happy to see Uma manaofying Kanak.
The buildup to the surprise was also perrrffeecct! Uma was ensuring each detail was taken care of. Balloons, dimmed lights, candles, etcetera. Did you guys notice how he thanked the hotel staff by saying, "Thanks buddy". That was too much modernity for our sanskaari Uma but I loved it😆😆. Also loved how he asked the hotel staff to remove the champagne bottles from the table. After all, in his words, "Usi wajah se toh yeh surprise ho raha hai."
Who appears sashaying down the stairs, her hair in place, her navy blue gown sparkling like diamonds, is not Kanak though. It's Meera. Uma is shocked!
Kanak was looking beautiful
That sleek satin gown clinching at the right places, her twinkling eyes, and that smile that wouldn't leave her face. She arrived at the date venue with a bouquet of red roses and a gift in hand - those cute little glass pieces from Archies which have a dancing girl and boy entwined in each other's arms.
When she reaches the venue though, she is informed her name had been entered earlier but was later struck off ...upon enquiring further, she gets to know it's Meera Mittal who has done that. She turns around, puzzled, tries to call Uma...and then sees the duo from afar..through the glass windows...
Meera has her arms outstretched, proposing to Uma in no uncertain terms. Telling him she hasn't met anyone like him ever before, and will never. That she loves him madly.
Here Kanak is visibly flustered. She wants to reach the spot immediately, but the hotel staff bar her from making her way there. Dejected, she stands motionless, watching the dreadful scene play in front of her eyes.
At one point, Meera even bends down to propose to Uma. Uma, who has been standing shocked till now, manages to mutter a few words- telling her that he respects her as a person and as a businesswoman, but she is clearly misunderstanding him. He doesn't see her that way, and will never.
Meera, who has never lost in life or heard a 'no' is taken aback. And throwing caution to wind, disregarding his refusal, she reminds him that SHE is the way to his goals. His success. She has everything that he needs, she is the one who can take him to the top. Inching closer, she holds his hand, pulls him by the collar, holds his face in her hands and clings to his chest.
Kanak meanwhile, is heartbroken watching all this.
PRECAP - Kanak leaves the scene, not even bothering to call Uma. We see her walking aimlessly on the streets, an empty soul clearly shattered. Just like the gift that falls from her hand and meets its dreadful end.
Meera keeps trying to convince Uma ...that SHE is the one for him. She says something along the lines of, "12 din nai, 12 second mein tumhen yeh sab kuch milega."
Does it mean Uma has mentioned Kanak and their impending marriage, finally?
It seems Payal is being instigated by Purab to start a ladies beauty parlour, just like his mom Emily used to run. From the looks of it, he's thinking she'll earn money from that and then give him cash/gifts regularly, as bribe so he can keep his mouth shut. I'm sure this will erupt into an unpleasant atmosphere in the Rathi household. I'm not sure what he intends to do though. Is it an off-handed way of changing Payal for good or something sinister?
Personally, Payal still has time. She will obviously be thrown out of the house, but the Rathis are good, kind people and after a spell of fury and hurt, will eventually forgive her. But we know she won't do that. She'd rather get blackmailed.
P.S. Regarding, today's Uma-Meera conversation, My question is - WHY DID UMA NOT TELL HER THE TRUTH ON THE LAUNCH DATE ITSELF? GF HO YA BIWI, KANAK MEANS THE WORLD TO HIM. HE SHOULD'VE JUST TOLD MEERA THAT DAY!! AND WHY IS HE SO PATIENT WITH THIS MORON? BHAAD MEIN JAYE BUSINESS, PUSH HER AWAY AND GET THE HELL OUTTA THAT PLACE. But yea, he cant do that ..coz then she'll be after his life and ruin any chance of his success
I'm waiting to see his reaction tomorrow. God, my heart is thundering.
But one thing is for sure - Uma loves Kanak, and yet, love is not enough. For this new Uma who is willing to do anything to achieve success, his willpower to resist the temptations of the world's glitter and dazzles will prove more handy than just his love. No use being madly in love if you let temporary, short-lived desires rule eternal, lasting love.
Human beings are crazy. Just when we think they can't do or say something, they do. I truly hope Kanum will traverse this painful, trying period and come out with flying colors. I'm hoping Uma will see sense and come back to Kanak, being the same soft, innocent, unique Uma he was. I hope this can all be erased like a nightmare...something that lasts through the darkness of the night, but can't stand the sunshine and hope of the next morning.
