Not new to India Forums as such, just new to the TSMSP forum 😊
Been occasionally reading some of the reviews here and I must say, some really insightful analyses of the show on the TSMSP forum. Kudos to all those who patiently sit down and express their thoughts on the daily episodes, no matter how horrid many of these frequently are. I used to do the same, but for a different show on Star Plus that has long since lost all sensibility :(
Anyway, as regards today's episode, I will directly delve into the bit where Uma comes out of the room, looking drop-dead gorgeous and oh-so-put-together in a blue/purple shirt and neat fitting trousers. While I absolutely loved the look and am impressed with the way our man is taking these strategic steps towards "changing himself " and keeping pace with "aaj ki duniya", I fear these may be extremely hasty steps, instead of measured ones.
Sooo many things about the episode today were spelling doom in all possible ways. And as a loyal Kanum fan, it hurt me real bad. My heart was thumping like crazy.
Things that made me really uncomfortable 😵:
1) The way Uma kept stressing on the "I instead of "We which usually Kanak does. I'm glad he wants to prove to himself, and make his own mistakes and learn from them, but I somehow didn't like the tone. It was too cutting, and very uncharacteristic of Uma. This was more of a shocker since it's just been a day since they've got back from Bangkok, where Uma couldn't do without Kanak and now he's acting all fidgety to get out of this "12 saal se main duniya se peeche raha" cage. Now I see a man excited and prepared to change himself, unfortunately, he's also exhibiting the traits of someone who might be too blinded by bahar ki chamak, in the process of discovering himself.
2) Could literally FEEL Kanak squirming when he say, "thoda dheela rakho Kanak, mujhe ghutan ho rahi hai. 😠Abhi toh itna chipke the, abhi itni jaldi dheel chahiye? Kaunsa tumhen baandh ke rakha hai Kanak ne!
3) Could literally SEE how hurt Kanak was when he said he would be going to meet Meera Mittal alone.
4) And then when he said he would be using his own phone, own number - that's fine, everybody should have their own number but when they've never used a smartphone before in their life (forget that, they haven't used even a basic phone till now) and want to purchase the glossiest gadget in the market that LOOKS GOOD and you know, is good for showing off and keeping pace with all things modern, these are warning bells that should not and cannot be ignored. Poor Kanak, she's even bought him a seedha saadha phone, I dread Uma's reaction. Or rather lack thereof. Ugh.
Kanak is already feeling left out and somewhere deep down is worried (tomorrow's precap confirms these fears). We are worried too, coz just as much as want Uma to change, we don't want him to lose the essence of who he is.
And that is what my biggest fear is - Meera Mittal is and has everything Uma aspires for at the moment (remember, he also wants to be a safal vyapari like he said yesterday?). With Kanak mouthing shitty dialogues like, "Meera Mittal aapke kamyabi ki pehli seedhi hai "Jayiye Uma, Meera Mittal ko flat kar dijiye I can smell so many horrible, depressing vibes here😵
A woman can take anything but cannot tolerate her man falling for/spending too much time with/being too impressed or enamoured with any other woman. I just hope our worst fears are not confirmed as the episodes roll on.
As of now, I really hope Kanak finds her own identity too. It's time she moved away from "just being a housewife to my husband mode" to a police officer like her Mom or a politician like Arpita. Oh man! I have sooo many possibilities brimming in my mind right now when I think of Kanak and Uma, in their respective careers, and then coming at loggerheads (main bhi kuch kam nai hun, fast forward ki aadat mujhe bhi hai 😉😛😆). Maybe Uma distancing himself away from her will provide her the impetus.
In original Diya aur Bati, Suraj and Sandhya had different issues. Opening up to a broader world view than the closeted, traditional view (especially with regard to Sandhya's role and status in the family, her ambitions), balancing profession with family responsibilities, love and respect between a couple and being equals and complementary in every sense.
In TSMSP, we have these same things except now it's the millennial generation that's grappling with issues of identity, space and other elements in relationship, trust, etc. Suraj and Sandhya had many, many issues but a third wheel (an attractive successful other woman) was never an issue between them (correct me if I am wrong here, I have watched the show on and off). Uma and Kanak though will have different issues, issues unique and specific to this generation.
That is completely fine. But one thing is certain Kanak and the viewers- we- will go through plenty of mini heartbreaks starting now.
PRECAP: Will anyone tell me WHY Uma has to pick a woman up like that? That too a woman who is an entitled moron and thinks only she reserves the right to say NO?? Looked like there was a bomb scare in the mall or something (I can't think of WHY ELSE a seedha saadha chap like Uma would do something drastic as this!!). But even then, I am so pissed.😡
P.S. Own phone, own number. Meera calling now, huh??
