Chandan ki mehak was the first in a series of sanket that Uma got regarding Kanak as his partner, his wife, his equivalent in the journey of life. It's while in the water he dipped as the garland floated onto his neck, he doesn't even realize that he is wearing it till shiv points it out, the smell it emanates is chandan, he takes a whiff and is mesmerized... that's his life story all in that scene - he had never anticipated that he could ever look upon a girl, yet someone was made for him, she grew up on him, intoxicated his being and he didn't even realize it. The chandan mehak followed him in a series of hits and misses during their journey through Kerala, Pushkar and Ladno... it's on the day of Maha Shivratri that there is a crowd of hundreds of people, all dancing and celebrating, yet in that crowd he feels her smell, amongst the flowers, the Kumkum, the burning wicks of arti Uma acknowledges her presence amidst hundreds. They bump and in front of Shivji, the garland falls on them and their fates are sealed. For the girl with the chandan mehak and fate is right in front of him. Even while Kanak scrubbed her skin off with soap trying to rid off the gobbar' smell, in that moment too Uma held her hands and inhaled only chandan.
It was never about her beauty, Kanak for him was a prasad from Bholenath, over time he learned her as a character, a personality and an individual... they had and still have differences yet the beauty is not in drawing lines, building up defenses, but learning about the other in every way possible.
Uma removed his hand from the counter, he refused all interaction with Neha, till the chandan mehak slapped him on the face - his mind works in Kanak's way, he too can prank, he plays along and gets jhumkas for Neha, Kanak stomps in annoyed, she makes it vocal that she is upset with this behavior of Uma, she reminds him of the gift he brought for her and the earring he chose for Neha - Kanak is jealous, initially she had full faith that Uma would shut Neha down, never in her wildest imagination had she anticipated Uma playing along in the prank till she came to put her feet down. This is the Uma, who likes a bit of masti, playfully teases Kanak. He never knew fun growing up under Massi, Kanak brought the fun element in his life and he is growing on to it. He is welcoming a shorts wearing woman into his house, showing her around - this is kinda positive change in him that he no longer judges a woman on basis of her clothes, the lectures on sabya ghar ki larkian is long gone. - but issue remains constant it's an individual personal choice to wear whatever one feels like wearing, but the daily soaps have a logic of their own whenever they want to harass a woman the clothes are targeted, a duppata less woman is looked upon in scorn at times but a shorts is easily acceptable in a place like Ladno, or is it just Uma's family was keep regressive sand the rest of the town was progressing leaps and bounds.
SarVansh are like those people who are torn between themselves because their relationship is not on that level that they can share and understand each other. Vansh is still in happy go lucky phase of life, whereas Saras is starting to feel the heat Payal is turning towards her - would love to see a strong Saras battling for herself and Vansh, a new approach that woman can also run her house while the husband is out fishing - Vansh needs to grow up and learn a bit of responsibility, marriage is not a joke, not a burden to be carried by one, be it husband or a wife - they both need to work out a way so that in the worldly matters too, they find themselves, time and understanding for each other... the sweet shop they run would it add sweetness to their relationship or turn them away from the syrupy taste remains to be seen.
Payal is behaving like a brat who learnt nothing from her past experiences... but this is kinda what happens around in the society, the joint families do suffer from power and position struggles, the need to put down another just for nothing, to have a say in everything. Payal is being used as fuel to stoke the fire in Saras to stand up...
Ps - it seems like it's Gabasa who is Massi's secret helper in the house. A lot of betrayal is in store for Uma.
