Without doubt "any wrong-doing (not in Kanak's case) will be held against one not realizing the effort they made to make it up for. The police announces that making a woman a sevika is against the law and against women rights, as per complaint they have to arrest Uma. Uma says that he is a responsible citizen and nothing is above law - duh dude you live under a rock, you decided for your sister, you going to send her off with some baba... that time you didn't realize the law/qanoon and today you are ready to surrender.
Kanak steps in front of Uma, saying that she won't let him get arrested, - that's a wife's duty, her passion and commitment towards her husband. She knows that what he is doing is a crime, she wants him to stop, she wants saras to be saved but not at the cost of Uma being in jail - that shows the either the maturity that a woman is up to protect her man, the belief that she would be able to convince him to cross over to the other side or its sheer stupidity to not make use of the opportunity. - Kanak's action shows her effort towards keeping the relationships intact, Uma is different and difficult but he is only hers to change. All the women who have been oppressed one way or the other by Uma come forward to protect him.
The complaint was supposed to be anonymous, yet Uma gets a copy of from the commissioner... all the while Suman steps up thinking that Kanak complained against Uma, taking the blame of herself.. Palomi egging annoyed by her lies comes to slap her and Kanak holds her hand puts her in her place... how dare she hit the daughter of the house, how dare she interfere in the matters of the family. Palomi is a refugee and should stay in her limits - my only reaction was *burn B*tch burn* it was high time Palomi was shown her limits. If she is to be with family then should behave like family. Suman sides with Kanak for she is bringing positive change in the house. Palomi looks on in spite while everyone leaves - that's the difference between being Apna and paraya... being selfless and greed - Palomi wants to be part of Uma's life, she has lived so long with family yet she cannot tolerate being called out that also when she is on the wrong.
Uma is upset with Kanak and brings back the past to ruin their present. He reminds her cruelly of how she had him arrested in Pushkar and now she tried it again. He screams at her, he is expressing his anger and questions her methods of changing him... Kanak all the while try to deflect the blame, but Uma is not ready to listen and just shuts her down saying that nothing can stop saras from being a sevika.
Massa rings her bell and everyone rushes to her side... she points out to Kanak's hand which has haldi on it, indicating that Kanak was at home taking care of her while the complaint was lodged - haldi the color saved Kanak... massa despite being invalid comes to the rescue of her daughter, a daughter she knows is on the right... it's a beautiful scene when a saas takes over the role of a mother to protect her daughter. While Kanak was unable to defend herself, massa rescues her from Uma's wrath. Uma apologizes in an instant, saying that he is sorry - Kanak says it's okay but she is hurt nonetheless that he called her a liar.. but the more important issue is who was the imposter.
