I just finished watching the episode online and i can't be sure but I think Arvind likes Kanak or may have liked her in the past.

Or maybe he's just a good friend who after learning of her forced marriage reassured her that he's going to be there for her.

I think he's just a friend. Hopefully he'll be the link between her and her family and decide to reveal her secret to her brothers so she can be rescued somehow. Also when Ved hears of what happened to her I hope he hears about Payal and tries to free her from her illegal marriage and then their romance track can start!
