Okay so I've just started watching this drama and to be honest I'm a little bit disgusted at the forced marriage track. I understand that they had to get the two main characters together and that Uma is a decent religious man but I find it very hard to stomach the romantic scenes between them, because at the end of the day she never wanted it as she has been taken by force and married, it's as though the CVs are glorifying forced marriage. I know this happens in some cultures and small villages but in this day and age we need to educate girls.
No matter how nice Uma is to her and no matter how many people tell her how lucky she is to marry him the fact is she has been forced into it and its actually kidnapping by another name.
Unfortunately in this day and age there are too many women who are forced into something that everybody would say is wonderful for them but deep down to force a woman into a marriage with a man that she does not want is cruel and not religious at all.
I love the way Kanak stands up for being a woman and a modern educated woman who should be his equal in every way.
I loved her inner monologue at how backward his thinking is. Even though he may be saying what the majority of men still think in this day and age, it's oppressing women who want to rightfully live there own life side-by-side with their husband - so I loved how she stood up for herself and said a woman can be whatever woman wants to be and it should not be a duty to be made to stay in the house and do household chores IF she would like to do other things.
According to Uma, a woman is not allowed to have her own dreams and desires and she should want whatever the husband wants!
Absolutely loved the scene and a flashback of showing her mother Sandhya and her father Suraj and how her father always supported her mother to pursue the job that she loved. He never thought it beneath him to look after the home while she studied and gained a career, this actually gives Amanda strength and makes a wife truly respect and love her husband.
I personally hope that they finish this forced marriage track quickly.
I want to see Kanak escape and be free to go back to her family and I want Uma and the family to miss her rather than want to punish her for wanting to be out of this marriage.
I want her to get the shop back for her family and then I want them to meet up again in a better situation, maybe because her brother will try and help the girl got married to the boy in the photo, and for Kanak to see Uma for the good man that he is and for him to see her in a better light and respect her for her bravery and justice and then to actually get married again without any force but only because they love one another and truly understand each other properly and be as equals!
