Umashankar is really a complex character. The man can be ruthless (in the name of dharm) forcing an unknown girl to get married to him, or can be as gentle as possible to even shield her from the sun rays falling into her face?? Nowadays most of the husband's won't even notice that 😆

For the world around him, he is a man of principles and religious beliefs who is always firm in what he has decided and according to them he is flawless... That's why the whole Ladnun criticized Kanak when she refused for marriage by saying that she is making a grave mistake by pushing away the good luck she will have by marrying Umashankar...

He secretly got attracted with the unknown, unseen girl whom he recognized everytime perfectly by her sandalwood fragrance...
When she came face to face with him, he just couldn't take his eyes off her...as per him, the day and muhurt/time was auspicious and he decided to get married to her then itself as God has given him the signs by binding them in varmala and filling her head with vermillion by his hands...

But she refused... He tried to reason with her patiently on how God gave signs everytime they came across each other that they are made for each other... she kept refusing him and rebutting his stupid beliefs by her rational thinking ( I agree) ...
When she was trying to leave for the last time, he got desperate and told her not to go like that & to understand the signs given by God... She again refused and asked him to get married to someone else if he is so interested to marry...
Finally that man had a moment of weakness... He didn't want to let her go... He was sure that this moment is given by God to get married to the girl he was secretly in love with or attracted to... She just didn't listen to his reasons...
So he got more desperate yet firm that only she can be his life partner... He had an idea that if he lets that moment go, maybe in future if again him & Kanak cross paths of each other, she will run away from him as she now recognizes him... That could have hurt him more... So in a moment of weakness, he told her firmly that he has chosen her and God has given him signs that only she can be his life partner...
He picked her up, and went straight to the Mandap to get married in the auspicious time...she slapped, bit, pleaded him so that he will let her go but he kept walking, holding her in his strong arms as he didn't want to let her go away from him this time...
He kept the firm attitude throughout the ceremony, showing that he is in charge... When Kanak ran away, he was sure that she will come back to him in anyway as this is God's will...
She was forcibly brought to his house, bound and gagged, that softened him although he very well pretended to have ice cold attitude...
He wiped her tears and unbound her gently, yet firmly notified her that they are together for seven births and this bond cannot be broken... He didn't drink water as she didn't, he didn't sit as she was standing, he didn't enter house as she didnt and asked others in his way, not to force his wife...
He shielded her from sun rays falling into her face in the most gentle and adorable way, but could not understand what she is going through...

I think Kanak will run away as he is unaware of her identity or family... He will search her badly and then will try to connect to dots by taking steps backwards to find her... This is how he is going to land in Pushkar and coincidentally will end up in Kara's house... From here, he will have a difficult journey to win Kanak's affection as well as solving the existing issues in Rathi house, including Bhabho - Kanak equation...
Hopefully he can be redeemed...

In last season DABH, few people had concerns initially that the male lead is too understanding & gentle ... So kudos to the CVs for keeping the characteristics of the male leads of both seasons completely different... Else we would have been bored eventually to see season 2 repeating the characteristics from season 1...

Very well written. Umashankar well he is complicated for me as in now. May be you are right. There is much higher probability that those dramas will be created as you stated above.
Uma is tough rough but sweet and innocent like a coconut..
But will our kanak understand it? Dilli abhi bhi bahot dooor hai...

I don't know if he is innocent or not but his certain actions were sweet... But still that doesn't justify what he did with Kanak in his OWN moment of weakness...
He is going to have a real tough time when he is out of his comfort zone Ladnun to land up in Pushkar and deal with his fiery wife (in her homeground) as well as her tough Bhabho...

"So in a moment of weakness, he told her firmly that he has chosen her and God has given him signs that only she can be his life partner... "

@bold- interesting ! I think, after making that statement he worked from his ego and decided to make her his wife. Wonder whether his faith faltered?

Uma's character is pretty interesting, am curious to see how it's going to grow, few slips and he can become a bigoted relic .

I'm looking forward to their conflicts, Uma is unchallenged as the uncrowned prince I hope .Kanak coming from a world governed by law is going to push some buttons where his beliefs are at odds with law as in Payal's case.

So, you think, he's going to move to Kanak's house?

@Red---- Yes, I think for that moment his faith was shaken as he was more desperate about how to let Kanak/his dream girl stay whom God has chosen for him (as per the signs)... During the Griha-pravesh standoff 😆 outside his door, he even consoled himself that he did everything as per the dharam...but somehow he didn't seem confident about the same...

Kanak was very smart not to let her identity and family details out... She promised herself that... So I don't think Umashankar will know anything more about her, expect few hints... When she is gone with the wind (probably during pag-phera ceremony), he will take steps backwards and try to connect the dots so that he can locate his dharam-patni.. also to solve the case of missing papers of sweet shop (may even think both cases are unrelated)... This is how he is going to land in Pushkar, Kanak's homeground and out of his comfort zone to win Kanak's affection and her family's approval... I feel he is going to land up in Hanuman Gali and will stay either as a neighbor or tenant in Meenakshi's house...

@Ritu- He was desperate!😆 Will be interesting if they show him questioning his intuition, which is his hotline to his fav God and ponder whether he acted more out of instinct.

I like his family and I hope they continue to keep them.

hmm will moving to in-laws house dharmic? More use of force to impose divine will?

Kanak's attitude towards him will definitely make him question himself at some point of time whether he read the signs by god incorrectly or he acted out of desperation...

Regarding him staying at in-laws house, it could not be as per religion... But staying as a tenant and paying rent to them is still fine... I don't know how CVs have planned future tracks but I feel the story will proceed somewhere like this...

We all are aware from initial promos that Umashankar is the one who will be instrumental in bringing Bhabho and Kanak together...and it is practically difficult if Umashankar stays in Ladnun and Bhabho in Pushkar... 😆
So he has to come to Pushkar in search of Kanak as we all saw how Kanak smartly hid her identity from Ladnun folks...
