TSMSPJep:14~18.4.17~MyImpressions~Diffuse rather than aggravate!
There is only so much! one can take and even the best of us tend to snap and lose the plot! when dealing with any powerful sentiment that tends to sweep up our sanity and senses. The natural outlet is we tend to be taken over by the reaction. When dealing with deep sorrow many tend to swoon. But in terms of being one on the receiving end of someone else's fury. Then the best form of healing one can offer the one gripped by rage is to walk away from the situation. To diffuse rather than aggravate. In the episode today it's all about dispersing rather than exasperating situations. Kanak receives Bhabo's hate message, loud and clear and her reaction quite rightly as far as she can make out from her Bhabo's fury ,is that she cannot bear her sight. Kanak's feet and broken heart, take her to the busts of her parents.. yes today she misses them more than her tearful eyes and wounded soul can express. Kanak needed time out with herself to gather herself she has to diffuse the volatile reaction around her too, due to Bhabo's caustic truth..
Babasa, attempts to diffuse the situation by proclaiming that Kanak has left the house. Bhabo stares indifferently, pleased at wounding the child's spirit, her husband's words as usual bounce off her thick hide. The devil take the girl for all she cares! Payal dresses up for a farcical wedding ,minus the groom ,instead replaced by his childhood photograph! Payal recalls her mothers words, its god's will. Payal wants to diffuse her insecurity, tries to ring Ved .. yes she fancied him. But alas! It's not meant to be! so the poor girl cannot reach him! The devil doesn't take Kanak but her Bhabo's words certainly hound her.. Bhabo's taunts that she ran from Kanak all her life ,now make Kanak's feet run like the wind! She runs through the narrow semi lit arches and tunnels of the streets! narrow like the limited mindsets of these areas, unwilling to accept ideas of individual freedom of choice! Kanak runs past a woman spinning a wheel. One that spins decadent , orthodox yarns handed down from generation to generation. Kanak's feet race against time, of the deep rooted age old practices of child marriage... Payal is brought to the temple to be married to Uma s brother Aditya's photograph .. unheard of but it's happening even now while Kanak's runs from the hounds of Bhabo's words. Within her young yet strong blithe body she continues to carry the heavy load of Bhabo's words, she was responsible for the death of her parents! yet Kanak sprints past the wedding party heading to the local temple. She even jostles past against a tall man with exceptionally broad shoulders, a turban fixed on his head!.. but Kanak dashes to the old ruins of a fortress.. a proud example of the national heritage of Pushkar, its values, its traditions ,its culture. To this day, the ruins stand boldly against the blows of times. Today her feet carry her in hasty rush to get to the summit of the ruins.. she had darted across the narrow streets and lanes.. stifled by her Bhabo's words!
Payal's wedding is underway..with a childhood photo of her groom placed beside her, by her BIL Uma. Uma with a straight face ties the ghat bandhan knot..with firm fingers he ties the bond of a new age girl Payal with the childhood photograph of his missing brother Aditya.Uma sets the precedence that age old tradition of child hood marriage stands strong.. it's a difficult knot to untie! But Payal is strong enough to untie the knot! puts her foot down to disagree to this sham wedding! She runs way from the ceremony! Uma's henchman is ready to go after her. Uma has a better way of diffusing this volatile situation.
Kanak reaches the summit of the old fort and looks down at her beloved city of Pushkar..the home territory, her parents gave their life for. The city where her Rathi family and her Bhabo lives! Kanak cries at the bird's eye view of her city. From the heights too, the city stands fixed in many austere practices and atrocities committed against women's civil liberties and rights. Kanak wipes a tear, and puts her foot on the brink of the turret.. Bhabo's accusation that she is responsible for her parents death is enough for her to plunge to her death! perhaps her Bhabo's bereavement for Suraj and Sandhya will be avenged by their daughter Kanak's death?? Kanak weeps. Unaware that a little lower from where she stands , stands another girl like her, lost and vulnerable. The purpose driven life.. is one led by the man called Uma Shankar. He knows what he wants and how to go about it. He has a task at hand, to maintain family honour and respectability. Seeing the fragility of the situation he uses his teaching skills to instruct a confused pupil ,namely Payal. Uma approaches her as a friend who empathizes with her confusion at the strange marriage, thus compelling her to end her life! Uma impresses her with profound diction, that an ignorant soul is lost and like a stone, mute lifeless object without purpose. Yet if on a stone the name Ram is inscribed , a rationale is given to it and it becomes significant to devotees. They understand their calling and heed to it and like the stone ,find meanings, objectives, and duties for their life. Swamped by his heavy words Payal wants to know for whom is she meant to carry out duties for? Uma reminds her that one does not live on their own. Humans are born into the bond of relationships to which one is accountable. He brings in the flavour of faith by teaching Payal that the lord too is with those who are committed to duties. The lord strengths the duty bound person with the gifts of determination which in turn rewards one with that love, one hankers for. By ending one's life ,one not only loses the chance of winning who one loves, but also faces the chance of losing one's self as well. All are born with a specific purpose to their life. One just has to seek that purpose, and aspire for love ,for its love that gives function to life! A meaningful life.Uma's pearl's of wisdom or chosen words to manipulate Payal are carried to Kanak ears too and acts as a healing balm for her dispirited soul. Payal's asked question , and Kanak's silent weeping heart query is answered by Uma , that one has to have faith in fulfilment of love. For by faith and firm believe even the highest mountain can be climbed. Faith keeps us adrift even in stormy weather. By faith, and then by the passage of time even the toughest of situations can be overcome. Both Kanak and Payal are consoled by Uma's message that disperses the chaos within their hearts and replaces it with a objective in their lives. For Payal to strive for her missing husband's love and his return. For Kanak to achieve her Bhabo's love! She flies now as she retraces her steps back from the old fortress down the stairs back to the streets of her beloved Puskhar! Her purpose in life is more stronger than ever before!
Payal circumambulates around the sacred fire with Aditya's childhood photograph clutched against her bosom. Payal's parents weep while Uma looks on duty bound to familial commitments. kanak's brisk feet now stroll near the entrance of the temple where the marriage takes place.. with a soft smile on her face ,her heart cries out to her unseen, but heard teacher.. who so ever may he be, but to her he is her saviour.. one who resorts her broken spirit and refreshes her heart and mind with a purpose!
Kanak is back in Hanuman lane, rings her brothers from a local phone booth.. yes she tells them was not fine before, but is now fine.. seem to have found the knack of living.. to be a tough nut! the three siblings sing a coined song about wooing their tough old granny back. Kanak tells them she 'll come home shortly, wants to buy bhabo's favorite flowers for the shop.. as precap shows it looks like our comitted teacher, medicine man, knight in shining armour US..is planning to take over the sweetness in the Rathi family. This time the confectionary mart.. next time the girl with the sandalwood fragrance ,who knows what the elusive US is really up to? The episode is all about Uma,but our Kanak too is not far behind this man..
