Empty its millions: Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra |
Rakeysh and his production team shot a dream sequence in Times Square. But since they needed to shoot without any crowds in the otherwise busy area, they had to get special arrangements.
A source from the line producers in NYC says, "UTV Motion Pictures and Rakeysh Mehra's production people got in touch with our company a month or so ago and gave the brief that they wanted to shoot at Times Square when it was deserted; which is an impossible task. Even big Hollywood producers and directors can't get it done. The production team told us that the scene they wanted was like the opening sequence of Tom Cruise's movie Vanilla Sky."
The shooting started last week from Wednesday and went on till Monday.
Big spenders
Mehra and crew would start shooting at 3 am and shoot till dawn. The makers have spent an obscene amount of money on this sequence. They hired helicopters and big jibs canning the isolated Times Square isolated. The source continues, "The director was reluctant to share any details about the sequence. There was a high level of secrecy.
Unit members on the sets were told not to carry their camera phones on the sets. And there was a person who could collect the phones of those entering the sets and they were only returned after pack-up."
No actors present
Rakeysh joined his crew in New York on Sunday morning straight from the airport. None of the lead actors of the movie were actually present at this shoot. The sequence is supposed to be filmed on Abhishek Bachchan and he shot for the scene a long time ago against a green screen and now it will be incorporated against Times Square. This sequence is very dark like most of the movie and the actor moves from Times Square, New York to right in front of his house in Delhi.
