OSR Samyukta Pt 23 โ Shera's reality saddens!
The ambiance of the shrouded chamber that constantly houses a distinct aura of displeasure seems increasingly unsympathetic during this rueful evening. As is the norm, the permanently shut and guarded heavy iron doors muffle the calamitous events transpiring within. Only supplemented by a handful of burning brass oil lamps reflecting the wretched faces of its inmates; the sordid room reveals the increasingly vexed Jaivardhan walking away from the ceaseless disputes occurring between Agni, his friends and the commander Dhananjeya.
Observing his unused sword; Agni nurses his ego, hurt by both the failure of his ambitions and the popularity garnered by his rivals Dharam and Veer during the war.
Screaming in frustration, Agni stands up vehemently "Does no one have any idea about how Dharam and Veer came to know about the revolutionaries attack on the capital?"
Hurling away his weapon in annoyance; he pauses for the clangs of the metal to subdue, before continuing "Anyway, I shall eradicate all the revolutionaries at once... they dared to raise their hand against meโฆto injure me... I paid them... I provided them with manpower and they set out on me!"
Mustering his courage, one of Agni's friends speaks up "Where are the rest of the revolutionaries anyway?"
Staring at the commander, the enraged Agni adds "What about Bhimsen? Babu? Where are they now?"
Aware that everyone was awaiting an answer from him, the cornered commander exhales deeply and replies with an apologetic frown in order to pacify their curiosities "Most of them were killed during the revoltโฆ many have even been captured" he pauses "But some escapedโฆ including Bhimsen and Babuโฆthey were the ones who were responsible for injuring Rajkumar Veer."
Unable to repress his raging emotions at his numerous failures anymore; Jaivardhan turns around furiously, prances towards Dhananjeya and holds him by the neck, as he howls "I thought their orders were clearโฆone thing they set out to do and even that they could not achieveโฆ" umindful of the choking noises produced by the suffocating commander, the defeated Jaivardhan continues "All our hard work, effort, revenue, planningโฆeverything has now been destroyedโฆ the only saving grace being that we weren't incriminated of treason"
Slowly approaching his fierce father, Agni places his hand on his shoulder in an attempt to calm him down. Watching Jaivardhan slowly retract his powerful grip from the gasping Dhananjeya's throat, Agni mutters in a comparatively hushed tone "Dharam and Veer are aware of our plansโฆ pitaji, I think it would be better to lie low for a while and resume our strategies only after taking very cautious stepsโฆ"
Interrupting their relatively composed exchanges; one of Agni's friends proliferates their woes, by ignorantly reminding them of the distressing news "Gadhwar is still angry about the defeatโฆthey are blaming all their losses on our poor planningโฆ" while his remaining exasperated men glare at him signalling him to remain silent, the friend concludes foolishly "B...besides, I... I... just wanted to ask you if you knew...did you know that Dharam and Veer managed to get the news about Chatarpur's attack, from the princess of Niphaud?"
Taken aback by the newfound information; the puzzled occupants of the chamber gradually turn their attention towards a slumped lonely figure seated on a plush couch, at a dark far end. Having had his head buried within his hands all the while, Rajkumar Harsh slowly becomes conscious of the strange silence around him and raises his head to view everyone's curious faces staring in his direction. Taking a short while to recover from his immensely forlorn state, he confesses in a low tone "Chatarpur...attack? Princess of Niphaud...y... yes...Rajkumari Siya read the scroll that you had sent me before the warโฆshe was the one who had sent the message about the secretive Chatarpur attack to Dharam" after a brief pause; Harsh laughs at the proposition, before continuing with an expression of disgust "Ha! Rajkumar Dharam... it seems she apparently has her heart set out on Rajkumar Dharam and cannot imagine living a life with me... that... that ungrateful... malicious... spiteful witch... she thought she was doing me a favour by breaking off all ties with me..." he pauses to vow with fervid vindictive conviction "After everything that I did for her, she dared to insult me... me - the prince of Chatarpur... I want to see her life and happiness destroyed... she thinks she shall live happily with Dharam...I would like to see their lives wrecked and Dharam crushed!"
Harsh pauses and gores at Agni, to ascertain his oath "Anythingโฆ anything that you set out to do against Dharam, in future โฆyou shall have me by your side and will always have my support for itโฆ"
Walking towards his heartbroken friend in order to console his misery, Agni advices him in stern spirit "We are already suffering heavy losses... we cannot afford to do anything in haste... so Harsh, be patient... our combined wishes of ruining the two brothers would definitely be fulfilled..." he stares into oblivion, continuing his rigid immoral admissions "But, the only way that we could ever achieve anything, is if Dharam and Veer were not a combined force... they continue to remain too strong, if together... they have to be split... only then shall they become broken souls... when together, they are always successful in all their endeavoursโฆ"
As a reflection of another evil plot in his mind, the end of his lips slowly reveals the sliest of grins, while Agni turns to speak to his melancholic father "And the only... only person who has come even close to bringing a misunderstanding in between those two brothers in all these years... was the most capable and observant spy I have ever come across... Shera..."
Aryanagar, The tribal basti (settlement)
Briefly inspecting the folded cotton pouch tightly clasped within her hands; the diligent girl wipes the pearline drops of sweat off her brow, as she steps from the hot noon into the partly shaded rustic enclosure. Skirting jovially to avoid impish children chasing one another down and around the small crowded settlement; she nods her head to greet elderly members of her tribe resting on the dry muddy floor, as she bypasses them.
Moving close to sit beside the old man, Shera helps him to turn over on his back and then ensuring she had his attention, begins to advice him "Bade baba... I have brought you your medicine... the vaidyaji has asked you to have one pinch of this powder everyday after your noon meals... hold on to this tightly... please don't forget to follow the vaidyaji's orders..."
Forcefully opening his palms; she places the medicine into it, closes his fingers and reminds him once again, before exiting the tent "Bade baba... your cough has become worse... please don't forget to take it regularly... you need to take your medicines regularly, if you want to feel better..."
Smiling fondly at the affectionate old man's nods, she lets out a small sigh and then steps out of the shelter to enter the midst of the busy area.
Turning around to face the speaker, the man struggles to focus on his daughter's beautiful face, before shamelessly denying the misdeed "No... Shera... I did not take it..."
Not minding the bustle of her tribe surrounding her; Shera positions herself in front of her father in order to block his way, as she challenges him softly "Baba... please give it back... you know how desperately that money is needed for food... for... all our people... for the children..."
Slowly nodding his head, the stubborn man corrects her "Shera... I used the money to buy materials for the shop... by the way, you irresponsibly seem to have deserted the shop today..."
Battling to control herself from being provoked by his statements, she speaks up in a low tone "Baba... our shop materials are not available in gambling dens...or in bar rooms. However, that is where you seem to have spent all of it..." observing his disinterested expressions; she holds him by his shoulders in order to make sure he paid heed to her pleas, as she continues to implore "Baba... I work day in and day out at the shop...I feed 20 mouths everyday... I am forced to risk my life, working with a rogue like Rajkumar Agni... now... now I am even getting involved in Aryanagar politics...I am killing my conscience on all levels... and here you are just spending all theโฆ"
The intensity of the downcast girl's monologue withers as she notices a sudden lull in the pandemonium surrounding her. Briefly staring at everyone's alert expressions; she then peeps over her father's shoulder to see the disguised retinue of Rajkumar Agni and his friends, advancing through the hushed colony towards her. She watches wearily, as the wicked group now stationed in the centre of the throng; nod their head sporting sardonic smiles to greet an attractive young tribal man, leaning on to a wooden pole.
Repelled by their very presence; Shera masks her feelings to force a false grin of hospitality at the hostile men. Taking a few steps away from her father; her immediate thoughts are for the safety of the innocent children scampering around, obliviously. Pulling her veil down to conceal her face; she quickly indicates to the group, leading all five of them including the young tribal man, away from her community towards a barren patch of land nearby.
As the entourage approach a desolate plot, Agni remarks cynically "Tasha, I must say that all the members of your tribe seem to be... be... dare I say the word... frightened of me..."
Cracking his fingers, the handsome youth responds with a devious grin "Rajkumar Agni... who would dare defy your orders or betray your trust... definitely not the members of my tribe... we remain true to our word..."
While the two acquaintances converse casually; one of Agni's friends, signals towards the silent girl walking ahead.
Taking the hint, the prince smirks at his sly party and then speaks aloud in an instigating manner "True Tasha...most of the members of your tribe are afraid of us...in fact all, except for one... one who is in fact, angry with me now..."
On receiving no response, Agni winks at his friends and then quickens his pace in order to catch up with the girl, as he professes "Shera I know that you are angry with me... the other day you came to me with the Prasad at the wrong time... I was extremely agitated on that morning, as all my plans were failing... do you have any of the Prasad left now? I shall gladly take it from you..."
Wearing an expression of dejection; the cunning Agni admits in a tone, audible only to the girl "I cannot believe that you did not come to visit me... were you not interested in even enquiring about me... I was injured... I suffered tremendous losses..." moving close to her; he looks into her eyes, as he continues sadly "For a person who loves you so dearly Shera, you hardly seem to share the same feelings about me... anyway, I don't mind... this is what true love is all about... I still care for you and would continue to do soโฆ"
Entertained by his fraudulent confessions, she disguises her grin and interrupts him dramatically "Rajkumar Agni, I heard that you did not suffer any major injuries... even if you did, you seem to have recovered very well... you look hale and hearty now..." she smiles "Anyway, why the formalities? I shall not mind if you come to the point. What do you need me to do for you now?"
Removing a lush silk pouch from the folds of his outfit, he unfolds the present to reveal an expensive pair of glistening gold earrings. Gazing at her entrancing features; the stealthy prince tries to take the girl's hand in his in order to gift her the apparent token of love, but she quickly retracts her hand to avert the course of action. Watching her faltering interest, he concedes "This is hardly worth your merit Shera... but then, once I become a king... and then an emperor... you shall be by my side, walking on gold... sleeping on gold..."
Striving not to appear impertinent, the witty girl sighs at his remarks and corrects him "Rajkumar Agni, I really don't want to walk on gold... nor do I need gold to sleep... now, what task do you want me to complete?"
Having closely observed the duo's exchanges so far, Tasha becomes horrified by Shera's reply and impatiently treads towards the pair. Graciously accepting the gift from the prince on behalf of her; he then turns towards the annoyed girl and whispers furiously, as he glares at her "What are you doing Shera? Are you insane? Do you want to have the remaining few of us killed?"
Stepping forward to pacify their escalating argument, Agni tuts sympathetically in a bid to support Shera "Tasha, I am sure she wants me to be the emperor..." he then pauses to address Shera with harsh conviction "And for that, my dear Shera; the nosy brothers would have to be split... permanently... as long as they are together, no one else can take over Aryanagar. You need to continue spying on them and let me know of anything you know of... any small things you hear of..." he pauses "You are more capable, witty and vigilant than anyone else I have come across... even that shrewd Veer trusted you, didn't he?"
Listening to his assertions; Shera reflects on her past meetings with the two princes, briefly absorbed into a short trance. Reminiscing their cart ride on the way back from Niphaud to Aryanagar, her conversations with the princes on the morning of the prayer festival, her playful chat with Veer at the cliff, the night that she had laid her life at stake to save Veer's life, their meeting at Sakshi's house and what transpired when the soldiers questioned Sakshi's family. She finally snaps out of her thoughts when reminded of the insult she bore on the streets.
Smirking reticently, she replies in a grim tone "Trusted me? No Rajkumar Agni... they don't trust me anymoreโฆ"
Surveying her brief sad trance contrary to her usual vivacious alert self; Agni and his friends perceive that she was mulling on something. Holding the seemingly distant girl's shoulders; he shakes her, as he asks nervously "You seem lost Shera... you know something... tell us... what were you just thinking about?"
Not wanting to give away her thoughts, she immediately disguises herself with a pleasant smile to complement a perky act, in a bit to lead the troublesome royals surrounding her, off the scent.
However, the guileful Tasha spots the change in her demeanour and aggravates her by revealing his suspicions aloud "You are obviously hiding something Shera... why do you want to hide what you know... even if it is something small, do tell them what you were thinking about... even a small clue would help... "
Watching the irritated response on Shera's face; the desperate Agni begins prodding her to reveal the information that she was possibly hiding, while she repeatedly strives to deny knowledge of anything.
After a long while of disputes, constant torture and lone harassment she was facing from the vicious men surrounding her; the determined girl struggles to muffle her mildly bedewing eyes, ensuring that her tears did not flow down.
Eventually exhausted of their presence, Shera blurts out the information in order to rid herself of the vexing torments surrounding her "This information might not be entirely accurate, but I think Rajkumar Veer is helping a Shramik family... my friend..." immediately facing guilt about finding herself cornered into betraying her friend and friend's family, her speech transforms into stutter "The family are hiding something... t... they know something about..."Agni bellows "About?"
Shortly pondering on her broken sentences, Tasha rephrases her words "You mean to say that your friend knows about the revolutionaries...and that Rajkumar Veer might be helping them...by friend, don't you mean that lady... Sakshi... and her family?"
Agni observes Shera's enraged stares at Tasha for having disclosed the information, and bawls aloud in shock "Shera don't you dare conceal information from me. You know what I am capable of!" he then pauses to deliberate aloud "Sakshi... that rebel leader's daughter... her family know about the revolt! Veer... Veer defended them? Veer, an Aryavrat went against the law to protect them... how do they know Veer? What about Dharam? Does he know?"
Tired of the overwhelming cacophony, Shera reacts to the barrage by shutting her ears "I don't know... I don't know... I don't know... I just said what I thought I saw..."
Still reeling from the good news; the excited Agni starts pacing around frantically, as he mumbles aloud "Shera, how do you know that the family are hiding something? Sakshi's father, Mahadev was a revolutionary leader; hence it is no surprise that they are involved in all this too... hah! It is indeed time for them to experience life at prison... and what a perfect way to implicate Veer too..." he pauses "Shera, by family do you mean only Sakshi and her senile mother... or is there someone else too?"
Gradually nodding his head to conform; Agni orders her with a profound sceptical frown "Find out everything... what the family know regarding the revolutionaries...find out if they were involved and if not and what they are hiding... find out how and why Veer knows this family... if our suspicions turn out right, we have an excellent opening... a perfect plan to trap that brat Veer and possibly even separate the two brothers..."
No longer than his intent fulfilled on receiving a slow affirmative nod from his efficient female spy, the selfish prince turns around and grins at his friends. Fuelled by renewed hope; Agni jubilantly chatters with the remainder of his group, as they exchange brusque whispers to each other. Not even acknowledging the presence of Shera anymore, the boisterous party leave from the rural scenery, in no time. Watching Agni and his friends walk away nonchalantly; Shera takes a few deep breaths and closes her face, hoping God would show some regard and a positive end to the ordeal that she was facing.
Distracted from her dilemmas; she looks up to find Tasha standing behind her, carefully appraising the gold earrings in his hand "Your baba will be very happy with this..." he then pauses to look at her perturbed self "Cheer up Shera, why do you feel bad about all this? You hardly know your friend's family... remember... you are doing all this for the good of the tribe... did you forget the number of debts we had..."
The dispirited girl curtly treads away from Tasha's troubling discourse; unwilling to listen to the sad history of their tribe all over again.
Meanwhile....Life at Aryanagar...
As the tumultuous storm that briefly clouded Aryanagar finally passed away; life at the kingdom slowly begins to lull and regularize, while people's lives return to normalcy. The passage of a few weeks sees the immaculate restoration of the destroyed wings of the palace through the diligent efforts of the construction workers. Dharam continues to aide his father in dealing with and sorting out post-war affairs, while the frolicsome Veer heals well from his war wounds, bringing cheer and laughter back within palace walls. Forced to accept the victory of their enemies; Agni and Jaivardhan lie low, patiently watching the events unfold before them.
No sooner than the assembly towers are returned to their original splendour, the first assembly meeting is organized to be held at the new venue.
Aryanagar, the palace โ Assembly
The newly renovated arena of the dazzling courtroom exhibits eager expressions on the faces of numerous nobles and commanders, all seated at their respective stations. Aware of the adoration the remaining onlookers had for them; the exuberant Veer smiles proudly at his brother, Dharam. Positioned at the head of the congregation on his majestic throne; Aryavardhan does not endeavour to hide the elation on his face either, aware of the honour that his son and nephew were soon to receive owing to their commendable achievements.
Taking a brief while for the chaotic noise in the hall to settle, the proceedings begin with commanders from various cities advising the administration on defence updates ever since the end of the war. Soon after; ministers from the departments of economics, health and welfare complete their speeches to the royal throng.
Once the presentations of various developments and reports are completed, an announcer stands up to unfold a long silk scroll. Representing all members of the assembly, the petite man begins to read its contents aloud
"Victory to Rajkumar Dharmavardhan for not only having led the battle against Gadhwar and Chatarpur, but for having won it almost single-handedly. Victory to Rajkumar Veervardhan for having so dauntlessly defended the capital from the revolutionaries, protected the palace and the royal family. In spite of the fact that the two princes took matters into their own hands by releasing the regiments without the appropriate permission of the authorities, their act has turned out favourable both for Aryanagar's safety and victory."
Unable to shout any longer above the loud triumphant cries of praise from the crowd; the announcer pauses, waiting for the uproar to calm down. Desperately attempting to stifle his snigger; Veer signals to the silent Dharam, in order to observe the bitter faces of uncle Jaivardhan and cousin Agni, before the announcer continued with his speech
"Lord Jaivardhan and Rajkumar Agnivardhan's names have been cleared of any involvement in this, as confirmed by the confessions of the treacherous Gadhwar Commander-in-Chief. This establishes the fact that the accusations were merely a misunderstanding from the part of the two princes. A word of sincere praise must be meted out to Rajkumar Agnivardhan for having stayed back at the capital to help Rajkumar Veervardhan, if not for which; the revolutionaries would not have been defeated..."
Instantly annoyed by the undeserving praise the traitor was receiving; Veer's smiles turn to glares, while the uncaring Agni continues to sport an innocent look. Noticing their exchanges; the calmer Dharam blinks at Veer with a comforting smile, forcing him to look ahead, just as Aryavardhan stands up to conclude the declarations with his statements.
"The date for the execution of the Gadhwar commander has been set. Now that we are aware of Gadhwar and Chatarpur's intentions, the new defence schemes would come into effect as soon as possible. As for the revolutionaries, not only do they refuse to carryout the jobs destined for them, but devise to overthrow the administration and create chaos. All Shramiks having any form of acquaintance with any revolutionary shall be imprisoned and questioned till found innocent of any involvement... "
Listening to the precautionary judgements against the Shramiks; Veer slowly becomes sucked into a disheartening turmoil, as he remembers the various incidents that repeatedly remind him of Pari's concerned loving manner, Sakshi's pleasant smiles, Dhruv's placid explanations and the harmless expressions on the faces of the children in the orphanage.
Noticing Veer's prolonged troubled silence, Bhalla bends forward, pats his shoulder and points towards Dharam. Swiftly pulled away from his train of thoughts, Veer realizes that Dharam was addressing the crowd, as part of their first set of plans to challenge the immense corruption that Agni and Jaivardhan were carrying out in Aryanagar.
"Respectable lords and nobles, we thank you for the honour and praise you have showered us with. I am aware that in the annual assembly meeting coming up soon, myself, Veer and Agni would be delegated into different streams of administration and possibly, one even proclaimed the Crown Prince. However; ever since our return from the Gurukul, neither I nor Veer have ever been involved in any aspects of administration or charged with any responsibilities. Hence, I have a sincere request to make off this assembly. If all esteemed men seated here are now confident of our abilities, we would like to choose an aspect of governance to be involved in. Such responsibilities would ensure that we would be trained and equipped to serve our kingdom to the best of our capacity. If possible, we would like to start carrying out our duties from this very instant and assure you of our thorough dedicationโฆ"
Surprised by the unexpected though genuine request; the nobles in the hall begin whispering and exchanging their varied notions to one another. Comprehending the reasons behind Dharam's sudden request; the helpless Jaivardhan stares at the enraged Agni, horrified at the thought of sharing his departments, responsibilities and monopoly with the two princes.
In the meanwhile; grasping that the officials did not seem to reach a decision even after a long while of debate, Aryavardhan decides to speak up in a grand baritone
Eventually after another short bout of debates; a minister stands up, bows to the royal family and then out of respect to the king's wishes, turns to ask Dharam humbly "Which aspects of the administration were you looking to start working in Rajkumar Dharam?"
Smiling to himself softly, Dharam replies "The Department of Revenue"
Immediately gauging how dangerous it would become to defraud and embezzle funds from the royal treasury with Dharam's presence anymore, Jaivardhan and Agni's state turs to one of pitiable despondency.
Observing nods of approval from the king and the remaining lords, the minister then turns to question Veer meekly "Which aspects of the administration were you looking to start working in Rajkumar Veer?"
Standing up with dignity; Veer clinches his sword, as he replies confidently "The Defence ministry"
The increasingly desperate Agni and Jaivardhan silently grumble on how difficult it would be to carry out dealings with corrupt commanders and defiling soldiers, with Veer's involvement henceforth.
Receiving the consent to proceed, the minister finally turns to query Agni slowly "Which aspects of the administration were you looking to start working in Rajkumar Agni?"
Shaken by the unfavourable happenings in the assembly, Agni takes a while to stand up and barely manages to stutter a reply "T... the... R...Revenue...m...ministry"
Aryanagar, the palace โ The records and revenue chamber
Partially lit by the irradiant sun's rays penetrating through the ornate windows and partially by the glimmering brass oil lamps, the extensive room harbours a reddish hue in the form of silk paintings, velvet seats and the dark wood shelvings adorning it. Amidst hundreds of monumental ebony shelves housing records in the form of crude papers, scrolls and mighty bound books; the comparatively smaller figures of the prince and the tax minister crouch over the paraphernalia, scattered on the floor in the deserted room. A direct implication of the humoungous efforts that the prince had invested in studying the records, Dharam gapes intermittently at various neatly penned entries in numerous sizable books spread open on the low desks around him.
Frowning deeply; Dharam shakes his head over and over again and then looks up at the tax minister disapprovingly.
The anxious minister replies in a defensive tone "Rajkumar Agni used to praise my accounting abilities time and again..."
Smirking to himself, Dharam interrupts "Mantriji... I am not surprised he would. In the past three days alone, I have found so many discrepancies in these records...some of the taxes levied on the Shramiks are simply excessive...is this what the assembly had decided upon..." Upon receiving no reply from the agitated man; Dharam exhales angrily, before again delving into the scrolls to reprimand the evil group in silence "Jai chachaโฆfor how long have you been embezzling money from the treasury in this fashion...the accounts have been doctored so well that faults are so difficult to detect... additionally; these ministers have been quietly agreeing to all your misdeeds, out of fear... and Pitaji has been trusting all these crooks ... I must show all this to Pitajiโฆif possible, before the annual assembly meeting."
The grim prince becomes shortly distracted, as a small yellow leaf surprisingly finds its way on to the pages of a book. Unperturbed, Dharam takes the leaf and throws it away in order to continue studying the registers around him. In a few moments another leaf again floats onto the pages of another book, catching Dharam's attention. Grabbing the leaf; Dharam spins around to detect the hushed cackles of Veer and Bhalla, from behind.
Sensing temporary relief in the form of Dharam's distracting company, the worried minister requests "Rajkumar Dharam... shall I take your leave now?"
The flustered Dharam stammers, as he tries to recompose himself "N...n...no"
However; Veer quickly overrules Dharam's order, as he responds to the relieved minister "Yes... yes... you may take our leave mantriji... you have been working so hard for three days now... you deserve some rest..."
Wasting no time; the tax minister springs from his seat to scamper out of the room rapidly, unable to face Dharam's inquiries any longer. Observing the minister's exit, Dharam folds his hands and stares irately at Veer, waiting for an explanation.
Discerning Dharam's stern expression, Veer explains in a low teasing note "You have been so busy, you didn't even hear the guards announce our entry... you don't realize this Dharam... but you have become very dull... lacklustre... boring..."
The docile Bhalla adds "Yes"
Glaring at Bhalla, Dharam mutters sarcastically "Thank you" the irritated prince then quizzes Veer rigidly "Have you done your duties for today? Have you looked into..."
Holding his hand up to stop his brother, Veer replies chirpily "I am far more efficient than you judge me to be...I finished examining the new arsenal today...I have checked the old stocks too...The commander of Raipur gaon is arriving in the afternoon... I shall be showing him around the capital, once he arrives... but if not, everything else is done... I don't neglect my duties like you, Rajkumar Dharamโฆ"
Bhalla supports Veer proudly "Yes"
Sighing deeply in annoyance at Bhalla's answers, Dharam then asks Veer furiously "What do you mean? What duties have I neglected?"
Sitting beside the puzzled Dharam, the frisky prince nudges him "Rajkumari Siya..." noticing how Dharam's face mellowed at the mention of the name, Veer continues "The princess of Niphaud helped us so much... she showed so much concern all through... and you didn't even thank herโฆ"
Flashing a soft yet superior grin, Dharam corrects him "How could you think I wouldn't thank her? I sent her a long letter thanking her for her help with the warโฆ but I have not received any replies yet..." observing Veer and Bhalla's disgusted frowns, Dharam resumes explaining himself "I mean...I thanked her for the war... but... and... I expressed some feelings... I mean love... I..." realizing he was mentioning more than necessary, he pauses "Anyway, that is personal... why should I tell you both..."
Breaking out into fits of cough, Veer jests his nave brother "Oh God" he coughs "Someone please" he coughs "Someone please teach this ignorant princeโฆ"
Taking the cue, Bhalla drops down to the ground and starts coughing out loudly too.
Following the hint, Bhalla adds "Yes"
Fathoming what his brother was suggesting, Dharam refuses modestly "OhโฆVeerโฆher parents will also be there... I don't know... her mother might not...no... no... it would be very disrespectful..."
Swirling around animatedly; the mischeivous Veer kneels on the floor in front of his brother and cries out theatrically "Be brave Dharam... if not at the shrine, surprise her by whisking her away... meet her secretly ...thank her..." placing his hand on his forehead; Veer then touches his heart in histrionic fashion, as he blurts out "She shall be so happy..."
Bhalla nods "Yes"
Chuckling at their charade and embarrassed by the thought; Dharam tries to beguile Veer by enquiring playfully "By the way, why are you so desperate about going there Veerโฆ" he pauses "Is it because Daksha might be there too?"
Aggravated by Dharam's incriminations Veer retorts "Dharamโฆstop uttering nonsenseโฆ" he pauses "I agree that we should carry out our duties to stop Agni and Jai mama in their tracks, but can't we spend some time otherwise too... you have been working constantly ever since the war ended... I am tired of being confined only within palace wallsโฆin spite of my injuries having healed completely, ma is not letting me step out at my own freewillโฆ" he slowly confesses his genuine regard for the princess "Besides, I have always been meaning to thank Rajkumari Siya personally for the scroll and the medicines... and we cannot go to Niphaud, as it could create many problems..."
Contemplating on Veer's preplanned frolicsome plot; Dharam smiles to himself, before ridiculing the duo "Oh I see...anyway...Veer... how long did it take for both of you to prepare this drama?"
Adjusting his sword irately; Veer stands up in mock resentment, as he grumbles morosely "All right Rajkumar Dharamโฆwe have after all, entered KalyugโฆI should learn to reconcile myselfโฆ honest people and good intentions are rarely appreciatedโฆ."
As Veer begins to proceed towards the large door, followed by the loyal Bhalla; Dharam whines at the melodrama "You are such a fine actor Veer... you always manage to..." realizing that Veer was not about to stop, Dharam calls out to him "Oh Lordโฆall right Veer... I am coming... I am comingโฆwe shall leave todayโฆ"
Grinning to himself at his triumph; Veer continues walking ahead towards the exit, while Dharam shouts out his instructions "Veer... meet me at the usual meeting point... at noon... but only after you meet with the Raipur commanderโฆ I shall inform ma that we are going to the temple..."
Watching Veer relentlessly leave the chamber; the flushed Dharam laughs aloud, amused at how he always succumbed to his brother's pranks and also reticently thrilled at the possibility of meeting Siya very soon
Wowow lashy what an awesome update๐๐ and I am so happy to be the first one to comment again๐๐
But I am still angry at u for making us wait so long๐๐
I just loved jaivardhan trying to throttle Dhananjeya., but if it was agni I wld have been even more happy.๐๐ Yeah agni to sudharne wala nahin hai lagta hai, iska kuch karna padega. Now he wants to separate dv, but pls lashy don't let dv go completely against each other as in the serial. And I just did not like him flirting with shera he is so stupid.๐ก
And this harsh he is like a scorned lover now, he is going to try to create probs for dharam and sia๐ก. Iska bhi kuch karna padega.
Ohhhhhhhhhhh ab for shera I was so sad, poor girl is like a female robin hood, she is killing her conscious and doing all this work. I really liked her pestering the old guy to take his medicine. U really pity her now. She is so alone. She does not even have the support of her father. And I felt very sad when she says that dv don't trust her anymore. U can feel how much that fact hurts her.๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
OMggggggggg but what did shera do she has told agni abt saakshi and her having info abt the revolutionaries and that veer saved them from the soldiers๐๐
And I just did not like agni get praised for doing something that veer alone did "A word of sincere praise must be meted out to Rajkumar Agnivardhan for having stayed back at the capital to help Rajkumar Veervardhan, if not for which; the revolutionaries would not have been defeated..."๐ก๐ก
โฆโฆโฆโฆ..yeah veer bahut sochta hai๐๐๐
But I just loved there new plan to expose jv ๐๐๐
"Dharam replies "The Department of Revenue"
Immediately gauging how dangerous it would become to defraud and embezzle funds from the royal treasury with Dharam's presence anymore, Jaivardhan and Agni's state turs to one of pitiable despondency."๐
"Standing up with dignity; Veer clinches his sword, as he replies confidently "The Defence ministry"
The increasingly desperate Agni and Jaivardhan silently grumble on how difficult it would be to carry out dealings with corrupt commanders and defiling soldiers, with Veer's involvement henceforth". ๐
Aur veer ki nautanki ke bare mein what to say jo pehle nahin kaha hai, it was the best scene of ur epi and a lovely way to end it. Baki pura update itna sad and conflicts se bhara tha ki having that light moment in the end completely balanced it out. Now me very excited for the next update. Dharam ji ja rahe hain sia se milne
๐
Will be back again with more comments. lots of hugs and love ๐ค
a new ride that marked my life
