2007 saw 10 youngsters making their big screen debut. Jiah Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Neil Nitin Mukesh are the ones who struck gold in Nishabd, Saawariya, Om Shanti Om and Johnny Gaddaar! They have their hands full with big banner films and even awards. However, not everyone is that lucky or even talented for that matter!
Here is a look at debutantes who were launched with fanfare aplenty but failed to live up to the expectations of the audience and who are currently out of work in Bollywood!
Urvashi Sharma: The curvy model with a lovely smile vowed our hearts in the Globus Campaign with Soha Ali Khan and in Mika's sizzling 'Tell me something meri jaan' video. Then she bagged Abbas Mustan's Naqaab and was touted to be the next big thing in Bollywood. However, she has failed to join the ranks of Deepika and Sonam. The ramp suits her better than film sets.
Prashant Raj: Prashant had quite a hefty role to portray, that of Amitabh Bachchan's iconic character Jay in 'RGV Ki Aag'. His much hyped debut was panned in every way. People found the movie to be such a nightmarish experience that they chose to forget everything about it, including Prashant Raj and his portrayal of Jay!
Nikhil Dwivedi: My Name is Anthony Gonsalves had newcomer Nikhil Dwivedi playing the titular role in E. Niwas' film. Touted as the next SRK of Bollywood, the audience despised his audacity to even compare himself with their beloved King Khan. Being completely zilch in the looks and acting department, he is probably considering another profession!
Geeta Basra: This Londoner with Bollywood dreams was heavily promoted during The Train's release in which she starred with Emraan Hashmi and newcomer Sayali Bhagat. Her previous film, Dil Diya Hai, also with Emraan, went unnoticed! Since The Train only enjoyed some success through its song Who Ajnabi, she failed to get any mileage after that! Go back to Great Britain is the advice we would give her!
