CL, how can somebody conceal the fact that his daughter is deaf and dumb for 20 YRS FROM THE CHILD'S MOTHER?

Except for that part, the story was quite good.

That film is called Koshish. Both Sanjeev Kumar (nmy favourite Hindi actor) and Jaya won awards. The film also won an award for best film and was directed by Gulzar.

That was acting par excellence.

Wow.. that's pretty good. Most of us, even those who love cinema, forget about these movies eventually. You actually sat and thought about sequels. That's pretty good.

Are you by any chance, an Assistant director? I've heard that typically it's the Asst.directors who think up stories like the ones you've come up with?

I've had a Ash look alike who lived in my neighbourhood in India. And she was a Tuluva (one who speaks Tulu). So very tall, light mirror like eyes, very light skin and light brown *frizzy* hair, almost golden - and all of these she was born with. Until we became friends, I thought she must be an Anglo-Indian. She was the most sought after, by the Tamil boys in our neighbourhood for all the above reasons, most of them not even as tall as she was. When one of the boys tried to *get close* to her, I remember she hurled the basketball at him (the one she carries to the court for practice) and knocked him out. 😆

I thought you said, you were in the heart of Kollywood doing some freelance reporting? Or..May be I got that wrong.

A lot of Kolly movies don't release in the March-April time, b'cos the final exams are scheduled in those months. IPL made a smart business/marketing move, by getting Vijay-Nayantara to be their brand ambassadors for Chennai Super Kings. And ShahRukh in the north. Even games like Cricket needs cinema influence now.

So, no hits except Anjaadhey, so far this year.. is that right? Mysskin's Anjaadhey was good, but there were complaints about too longwinding a climax, which most suspected might ruin the chance of a repeat audience in theatres and therefore will affect the BO collections. But it still proved to be a hit. When the producers of the movie urged Mysskin and the editor to make the climax more crisp and short, Mysskin wouldn't allow that and threatened to go to the Director's association to complain. So the producers let the movie release, as he made it. It was good! Very touching portrayal even by the smallest of characters. It deserves to be a hit. I like Vikram, but this Pongal's most anticipated Beema..I left off in the middle while watching it a month ago, and still don't find it interesting enough to go back to!

Ash.. they say she did a good job in Jodha Akbar. But I haven't watched it yet. But in "Provoked", where I expected to see a very good performance from her, she failed me, miserably.

And very true about the actress' skill these days. But some of them are good, but I guess that depends on the director, if they know to pick the right actress who can emote in even lengthy shots. Movies like Paruthi Veeran had some really lengthy shots. Like the one with PriyaMani and Manivannan, where he hits her with an umbrella. Director Ameer said in a webcast interview, that when he approached PriyaMani again to do a movie with him as the lead, one with a lot of scope for acting, she refused the offer (now, played my Madhumita of "Kudaikkul Mazhai" fame).

In the recent times, PriyaMani has proven to be a very good actress, esp. in all those, where she had little or no make-up on. But now, she is determined to get into the glam-doll image, 'cos she thinks that's what will get her movies with the top stars and guarantee dhuddu.

Madhavan in TV and web interviews a long time ago said, it was difficult for him when he was new and was cast in Dum Dum Dum, when he had to do scenes with Jyothika. He said he couldn't concentrate and act well 'cos in those scenes he was actually responding to a male assistant director, who was lying down on the floor, somewhere near where Jyothika was standing, and mouthing lines for her. He said b'cos of this he would either be amused or confused, and was not able to bring the right kind of emotions that the director expected. He said, over time he got over this hurdle. But still voiced his concern that while Bollywood directors expect their heroines to say their dialogues in Hindi - in Tamil, the directors were not that particular and relied fully on the Asst Directors while on shoot and dubbing artists later.

Ya, Priyamani's dresses are getting shorter and shorter.

That must have seemed really funny, the asst. Dir mouthing lines lying on the floor. 🤣 Trust Madhavan to have atleast done a commendable job, amdist all that.I wudn't hv been able to stop laughing 😆But yeah, you can't want to cast non tamilian actresses and also ask her to dub for herself..not both together. In Hindi, they can ask actresses to dub for themselves,Hindi is the national language, most ppl know it. Mal actresses learn to speak Tamil soon, bcoz Mal and Tamil are similar in many ways, Mal is said to have originated from Tamil(care to know the history? 😉 ) , Mallus watch Tamil movies in large scale, there are many daily wage Tamilians who work in Kerala, so all keralites are atleast sure to know 'aama,', 'podhum', etc

Isn't it amusing, that there seems to be a lot of ppl resembling Ash? Your neighbour, and I have a cousin who resembled Ash sooooooo mush a few yrs ago, the face, eyes everything. But now she's put on a lot of weight, to match her wud-be who's really huge!

wow.. you've got some really creative & wonderful ideas for sequels cinemalovers.👏👏 sadly... kollywood doesn't really believe in sequels does it? a pity because some of the stories there would be great hits onscreen.😊

jenim.. haha.. madhavan actually said that? lols!😆😆😆 trust him to be so open & straightforward about this matter. i remember one time i was watching his interview.. i think it was this year pongal's inteview on sun tv where he was meeting with this rowdy bunch of girls at this resturant. madhavan again addressed the matter of kollywood heroines dubbing for themselves. he said it was neccessary for these heroines to start dubbing for themselves so it'll improve their performances.😊

i agree with madhavan. there are some girls who lip-synch so well like priyamani, tamana, sada, bhavana & nayantara. it's a pity these actresses still haven't mastered the langauge well enough to dub for themselves.

ohh.. priyamani is also fast becoming those commercial popcorn heroines who look at the paycheck rather than their roles eh? bad for her & bad for us audiences too. priyamani is really a powerful actress & it's sad that she's losing her talent in exchange for acting with top heroes.

her outfits in malaikottai & thotta, especially in the song sequences were appallingly short. however PM has got the sexilicious legs to pull off those wisps of cotton & chiffon which are supposed to be skirts so i give it to her for doing it well.😉😆😆
