Sad and frustrating.... girl child aborted after learning what gender it is ?
Am not sure...but is it feasible or risk free to abort after learning what gender kiddo is ? no law against it ? sad sad and sad... if there is medical reason or risk to mom's life ...why a planned or unplanned conception should be considered for abortion, I mean there should be a very heart touching reason...orelse really don't why people do that ? not going to true facts ..might be inappropiate...but unable to understand... I mean with so much awareness why such things exists ? So if in India if gender determination legalised we are seldom to hear it's a gurl, in today's age?
Will read article a bit later. And I think the title should be changed >>>
UK Indian women 'aborting girls' <<< Yes in the article i gather it's the research of Indian Women <<< I think it is a typical thing in our asian culture. Same thing happens. However i don't know why i personally think that the same thing will neevr happen to males because of sterotype views and the differemces between Men and Women. Can't remember in what debate but there was the thing where you said men have to provide for all etc...and because of them views which will be ever lasting it will not happen to baby boy's.
Aborting female babies - Can see no reason why this should happen, no body says you have to get them married with a dowry. Personally again i hate all that stuff - For me it is like selling your child.
Main Reasons Why Expecting Couples go for Gender Determination Test -
Deciding what color to paint the nursery Telling a dying relative who won't be alive till the baby's birth Naming the child - To abort an unwanted child and so on.
Yes a lot of awareness o the issue but nothing will be done on this worldwide.
They have time and time again tried to just change the abortion laws to make them lower as a foetus can survive say at around 22 weeks and you can have an abortion until 24 weeks. They will never be able to actually implement laws of any kind to stop you finding out gender here .
Due to the wide misuse of sex determination technique around the world (i.e. to abort unwanted child that happens to be a girl in maximum cases), gender determination tests have been banned by many countries such as India but yes if it was legalised there, then unlikely to hear it is a girl if the baby is like the 2nd or 3rd girl etc.
Remembering that article where the baby was killed by grandparents because it was a girl
There is some kit you pay for, like a home kit which was i can't remember made or being tried (will look up that) but it basically told you the gender of your baby. So with such stuff being developed- not possible to actually stop people finding out gender and then aborting it - In india - they can easily get hold of such stuff or travel abroad just for this purpose.
Also people upon finding it is a girl, cry etc etc....but then get over it and learn to love their child, seen many cases of thisđł
But yeah anyone can easily get an abortio even if in India - knowing the gender is not allowed. Go to the land of the free and do the following:
This CVS diagnostic test is normally carried out when the fetus is between eight and 11 weeks old. In few cases, CVS may be conducted as late as 13 weeks. This particular gender determination test is typically done on people with a high risk of genetic abnormalities and the results are available between seven to 14 days. There is four per cent miscarriage rate in Chorionic Villus Sampling diagnostic test. And there is very little possibility too that the fetus sex it determines may be wrong.
Amniocentisis
The Amniocentisis diagnostic test for determining the sex / gender of a growing fetus is may be carried out as early as nine weeks and for diagnostic purposes, usually on 18 weeks gestation. It carries 1 to1.5 per cent miscarriage risk and one per cent chance of the occurrence of other pregnancy problems such as infection, premature labor, injury to the fetus, cord, or placenta, rupture of membranes and so on. Amniocentisis tests take around two to four weeks time to run. In this process too, there is small chance that the sex it shows in its report may be incorrect.
Ultrasound
This test can be done at any stage of the pregnancy to know the fetus's gender. However, it is best to have an ultrasound between 18 and 26 weeks. Though this is the most popular or frequent technique sought by couples to know the fetus's sex, it is least inaccurate. This is because how accurate its result is for sex determination purpose depends on different reasons like the baby's cooperation, gestational age, technician's ability and so on.
See an abortion rules?? Here 2 doctors consent- having an abortion is probably as easy as waking in and out of yor home.đł Anyone can say it is a risk to their mental health etc.
Sorry for going way off the debate if i have but end line is Yes if legalised in India, seldom to hear it is a girl- Traditions and Views are passed down generation to generation. And there are always alternatives if couples are determined not to have a girl, and i do not think it will happen to biys in our asian culture as of the typical societal views of men bearing a stromger physiqe and being the househld head etc.
