Most people especially guys on the forum say they would like to have a daughter... most gals say so.. so if there so many good-willed people then this can be left to the others to decide...random selective foeticide shouldnt be allowed....😊

In this country one is exposed to vices propose giving guns in their hands and expect their responsible behavior to kick in...then this should be treated the same way...if foeticide is allowed then selective one should be allowed as well...

You ban someone from doing something is to avoid you doing the hard work to resolve the issue, A ban is like a band-aid. Humans are intelligent beings, not some herd. If you ban something people will find another way of doing the same thing 😆

So sorry dont beleive in any kind of bans 😉

so by that logic, you'd not impose a ban on the activities of criminals, terrorists and various assorted psychos by going after them and incarcerating them? win them with love or wat?😛

on the bigger issue, i think folks should aim for a balanced portfolio. the ideal holdings would then include a boy and a gal. but they should let nature take course, rather than "partake" in female foeticide. alternatively, they can play the Henry VIII- keep replacing wives till one of them gets it right, not that they ever did. why take it out on the baby when you can strike at the source? 😉😆

If abortion is an easily available uncontested option then knowing the gender of the baby should be banned period. People may want to know to think of names, paint nursery etc. But none of that is necesscary or urgent. There is plenty of time to think of girl and boy names, there are several gender neutral color choices , several gender neutral play toys available. So there should be no lame excuses for knowing the gender. If it protects a female child being unfortunately aborted then the law should step in.

Female infanticide exists in USA but it is kept under control by the massive pro-life movement. Even though I find them radical and intrusive at times, I do admit they have influence to prevent some unncecesscary abortions.

I said "no ban". this is not the crime and punishment thread😆, you have crime legislations and then you have bans, difference hai yaar.😆

you ban Hizbul Mujhadin, they start operating under the name of ABC cleaning corp, your ban just went out the window😉

......and that "source" would be the hubby...not wife...as the Y chromosome comes only from the sperm😛😆 Henry VIII did not know that but we do😉

jokes apart, female foeticide is indeed a horrendous act but bans only make people more creative and that means more money doled out to get around the system. therefore, really do not think ban is the solution here. root cause is the mindset of certain people. The action plan shd be "cause-focused" rather than merely "condition-focused".

thanks for the positive reinforcement Raj😊 Only way to change this mindset is to educate people and work towards eradicating poverty. still, i do not know how much time it will take to overhaul the society's outlook as dowry etc. are so prevalent in india even among well educated people. the change in mindset is happening even if the pace is slow. i am sure, with more and better education to all and jobs to all, we will be able to handle this deamon eventually. what bothers me at times is that ek aurat hee doosri aurat ki sab sey badee dushman hoti hai. female foeticide won't be possible if mom, grandmoms and all aunts are dead against it.

Seems like an impossible task...at bold... but yeah nothing is impossible..which I doubt..so hope things improve.... At aurat hee dusari aurat ki dushman hoti hai... so true even after factoring this particular scenario/topic out... Once a bahu..later changes to be the possesive son's vampish saas...yaar this age old funda is out of my understanding boundary... thank god.. my folks understand our beti is someone else's bahu too and vice versa 😳
