After reading some harsh reviews on Aaja Nachle, I am wondering if I saw the same film certain critics were harshly analyzing in their reviews. 😆 I enjoyed the film a lot despite some flaws. Yes, its not a perfect film but the story is fairly straightword without any excessive melodrama and just the right amount of comedy, romance and emotions. Its one of those "feel-good" films. I'd put it in the same category of a Chak De India and Lagaan. Supporting cast is great, everyone from Kunal to Konkona to Ranvir to the girl who plays Dia (Maduri) daughter! Madz is Madz. 😊

Some of my favorite scenes from the film:

Aaja nachle title song: Madhuri dances like a queen! I felt like dancing when I was watching this number. 😆

The musical flashback sequence of what happened in Dia's past.

Imran's introduction especially the part where Dia winks at Imran and he's like 'What?!' 😆

Dia and Najma meet for the first time in 11 years- an awkward meeting between the two best friends

The scene when the cop, Mohan and some other guy are sitting around drunk and the cop keeps calling Mohan a jalebi. 😆

Raja's introduction scene when he walks in with some pizza and offers it to Dia! Must add I liked all of Raja and Dia's scenes. Akshaye's role is listed as a guest appearance but he's gets quite a lot of screen time. Also, his character is one significant to the story.

The scene when Imran goes against Chaudhary saab and then some guys start beating him up. Anokhi defends Imran and starts beating up the guys. Imran and Anokhi "truly" turn into Laila-Majnu and not just when they're acting.

Ishq hua song- really cute to see how Anokhi's plan works and Imran starts paying attention to her. Its a really cute and funny song, I loved it. Unlike most films, the AN songs aid in telling and moving along the story. So no bathroom breaks. 😆

Entire Laila-Majnu sequence! Bit far-fetched as some of the review mentioned (how did Dia get the money to transform Ajanta? The sets change so quickly throughout the performance?) but marvelous nevertheless. The entire cast does a tremendous job and Dia is the perfect narrator. 👏

Anokhi's even the lice in my hair don't know how to dance one-liner

Laila auditions! This scene reminded me of Shanti auditions from OSO. Anokhi's repeated auditions as Laila was hilarious. 😆

I agree, I have no idea why the critics were sooooooo harsh towards this film . I thoroughly enjoyed it myself!!

Some of my fav. moments:

The entire Laila-Majnu sequence in the end. All the songs used were great, and it was very well enacted. And what a great way to end the movie on such a high!

Akshaye Khanna was adorable in the movie! My fav. scene of his is after the Aaja Nachle performance when he talks to Dia...that little dialogue he says to her daughter, "I'm the bad guy"...I loved it!, and the way he tells Dia just before she leaves, "aap bahut achcha naachti hain", and her subsequent retort, "I know!"...Man, I loved the subtle chemistry these two shared in the movie! Very cute 'love story'...if it can be called that...lol

Kunal and Konkana have brilliant chemistry, and I adored all their scenes as well! My fav. being the one where they're rehearsing and he asks her what love means...oh, and I also liked the one where they kinda become a real life laila majnu, like you mentioned.

I really felt for Mohan's character a lot as well. Very nicely written and acted out by Ranvir Shorey! Especially that scene when after all the frustration, he still gets up and irons the poster of Dia's that he'd torn.
