NEW STEP: Sadiya Siddiqui
Though Sadiya Siddiqui is familiar with both TV and films and even theatre, the actress is now doing videos as well. She recently shot for a music video for the first time.

Considering that Sadiya is a trained Kathak dancer, the chance to showcase her dancing skills has been a welcome offer.

Says Sadiya, "It is for a music album by the band State Of Bengal. It is an English song called Deep In My Heart.

I play an Indian woman whose husband has gone to Iraq to work as a cook. However, he is killed in the violence there."

Testing times

She describes the video as "a very touching video, showing the the pain and anxiety the woman has to undergo as she learns her husband has been killed," explains Sadiya, who is also seen as Gayatri in Saath Phere (Zee) and as Shalaka in Saathi Re (Star One) on the small screen.

The actress adds that the video will feature her in a different light from what one is normally used to seeing her on the tube and on the big screen.

"In the video, when the woman hears about the circumstances under which her husband was killed, she just lets go.

She starts running and doesn't stop, all the while clutching a newspaper cutting that has reported the death of her husband," says Saadiya.

The actress says she is looking forward to more such offers as it gives her a chance to showcase her acting skills.

Filmi chakkar

On the big screen, she was last seen in Meghna Gulzar's Just Married. Over a decade ago, she featured in a leading role in Vipin Handa's Uff... Yeh Mohabbat along with Twinkle Khanna and Abhishek Kapoor, but Sadiya never got her due in B-Town and is mostly seen in small roles.

"At the moment I am not doing any films, though I am in talks for some," says Sadiya.

This week, she will also be seen on the floorbarods in Manav Kaul's Hindi play, Peele Scooterwala Aadmi
