Legal notices to Balaji, actors, by Indian Television Academy
Entertainment News
Indian Television Academy (ITA), which holds 'Hero Honda Indian Television Academy Award' ceremony every year, has sent legal notice to Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms Limited, alleging that her production house was restraining the actors working for it from participating in this year's award ceremony.
Notices have also been sent to actors Ram Kapoor, Sanjit Bedi, Vikas Sethi, Jennifer Winget, Roshni Chopra and Prachi Desai, for allegedly breaking the contracts they had entered into with ITA, committing to perform in the award ceremony, and to be present for rehearsals prior to that.
Notice sent to Balaji, by ITA's lawyer Vibhav Krishna, accuses that the production house wanted to know in advance whether the actors working in Balaji serials, who were going to perform in ITA ceremony as well as those nominated for awards, were the winners.
ITA, however, refused to divulge who were winners, so Balaji threatened that if the information was not given, the actors would be kept away from the ceremony.
This amounts to "unfair trade practices, undue influence, exercise of clout", notice says.
The notices sent to actors does not mention Balaji, but only says that they were breaking the contracts due to pressure from "a reputed production house."
