When Shah Rukh Khan broke a bottle on his head

24th Feb 2007 22.00 IST
By ApunKaChoice

Recently Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan got a bit overexcited while performing at a function and accidentally broke a bottle of wine on his own head.

SRK was at a function to launch a new bank scheme, however after the event his fans demanded that he perform a small act for them and SRK decided to oblige them.

SRK called a man from the audience and decided to enact a scene from Devdaas with him. SRK also called for some bottles of wine as his props.

However while enacting the scene, the King Khan got carried away and accidentally broke a bottle of wine on his own head. Fortunately though he seemed unhurt and just brushed the matter aside.

Sources claim, "It was like watching Shahrukh performing a live stunt, who had imagined that he would break the glass bottle on his head while playing around with it."

However it seemed there was more drama in store for the audiences, when another man imitated SRK's act and broke a bottle on his head. However the man was not as lucky as SRK or perhaps was not as good an actor as SRK.

Immediately the man's head began to bleed and he was lead away. Everyone was concerned about SRK but he insisted it was nothing serious and said "No, I'm not hurt at all."

Well it seems that this time the actor escaped unhurt but perhaps SRK forgot to add a 'Do not try this at home' precaution to his fans.

"Shah Rukh has charm oozing out of his sleeves and everywhere else" – Vidya Malvade

By IndiaFM News Bureau, February 24, 2007 - 09:15 IST

If you are wondering where the sultry actress Vidya Malvade has disappeared, well your search ends here. She will soon be seen in Chak De India along with Shah Rukh Khan. The film is produced by Yash Raj camp and directed by Shimit Amin (of Ab Tak Chhappan fame).

Vidya is quite excited about the film and says, "It has been an absolute pleasure working for the film. Yash Raj films are too good they have their own supplies and know where to put them right". So how did she bag a role with the prestigious Yash Raj Banner? "The casting director and Mr. Aditya Chopra were looking for my character for a long time and then they saw me on my show on Zoom TV and decided to cast me in the film. Further she states, "My character is very simple and underplayed, she is someone who you won't give a second look."

My character in 'Chak De India' is someone who you won't give a second look.
The film will see Vidya playing the character of a hockey player and Shah Rukh as the coach. "We went through intense training for 9 months for the role and whenever we weren't training we were shooting, it was quite hectic." Ask her about Shah Rukh and like anybody would say she too is full of praise for the actor. "Shah Rukh is amazing and so involved. He has charm oozing out of his sleeves and everywhere else. The first time he met the girls everyone loved him. Thankfully I had worked with him earlier in an ad film but working in a movie is different. He is always there and so down to earth."

So with the theme of a coach training an all woman hockey team doesn't it remind of the Hollywood blockbuster Bend It Like Beckhem? Ask Vidya on any inspirations and she reverts, "Well it's a sports film and most of the sports films are alike. But we also have a little back story to it. Regarding the resemblance to Bend It Like Beckhem I am just going to shut up. People are just writing what they 'want' to write and I am just smiling reading at those stories"

Vidya will also be seen in another film being directed by Amit Saxena who debuted with the John Abraham – Bipasha Basu thriller Jism, 4 years back. The film is titled Take 2 where Vidya is cast alongside Shiney Ahuja and Karan Oberoi. The final schedule of Take 2 has begun, "There are only 10-15 days of shooting left for the film and as soon as we get the dates in place it will take off. I play two characters one opposite Shiney and the other opposite Karan. The film has a very interesting story line; it's a take off on the Hollywood film called 'Sliding Doors'. After the first 10 – 15 minutes of the film it splits into two, that's how I play two characters. It's really beautiful as both the characters have their journey and come and meet again in the end. The assimilation is really nice when the characters meet again. Amit has done a fantastic job and is visually shot very well. And people who have seen the rushes say that I have done well so I am very glad."

SRK: Payback time!

It's payback time for SRK and he's doing exactly that. Apart from the countless anonymous charity that he does, SRK this time has decided to contribute something to his alma mater Hansraj College. We hear that King Khan recently donated an undisclosed amount to the college welfare fund. For SRK charity begins at his college!

Exclusive: Being Shah Rukh Khan

CNN-IBN
Posted Sunday , February 25, 2007 at 04:56

STRAIGHT TALK: SRK says that in life one should think of losing as not being an option.

Anuradha SenGupta: I can't believe this — no hot line dialing, no celebrity guest and here I am on the set of KBC with SRK.

Shah Rukh Khan: We are good to everyone, even news channels.

Anuradha SenGupta: I want to know exactly how good will you get, are you ready for a role reversal?

Shah Rukh Khan: I'm all right, I'm an actor. Whatever role you tell me to do, I'll try and do it to the best of my ability.

Anuradha SenGupta: So, let me live a dream role and play the hostess. There are no lifelines, some multiple choice questions and some essay type questions. The first question — Larry Page and Sergey Brin are the founders of Amazon, Rediff, Google or Yahoo?

Shah Rukh Khan: Is it Amazon?

Anuradha SenGupta: I'll give you a lifeline. You have 50:50. I'm getting rid of Amazon and Yahoo.

Shah Rukh Khan: Then Google.

Anuradha SenGupta: Okay then, this game has started. Shah Rukh is doing KBC because — it's a chance to connect one-on-one with fans; he's glad to be on TV, where he started and so and he's come a full circle; for the money or because 'where AB goes, SRK follows'.

Shah Rukh Khan: Three of the above. I think the money is nice and it gives me a chance to be in touch with the people. I also like the quizzing bit and yes, it gives me a chance to be back on the television too.

Anuradha SenGupta: I saw you hug one of the contestants, I think it was during episode one. For me, that fleeting and yet emotional contact seemed to symbolise what a star or an entertainer manages to do for a fan or a faceless person.

Shah Rukh Khan: The simplest aspect of it is that I'm a pathan and that's how I meet everyone—men and women. I don't like the word fans because it's sort of presumptuous that everybody likes you. But I meet audience and whether they like me or not, I do tend to hug people. In movies, I can't be hugging the villain — it wouldn't look right — so, one plays the character. In real life, I'm like that and when I meet real people, I don't do it with the intention that 'if I do this, it'll be nice'. I hug because I feel good.

Why SRK goes ga-ga over 'Oooh Aaah India'

By: A Mid Day Correspondent
February 24, 2007

Shah Rukh Khan belongs as much to the big screen as he does to the small screen. Touted as the second highest paid brand ambassador in India today after Amitabh Bachchan, SRK is a brand by himself.

It is a veritable brandwagon that he endorses: Santro, Pepsi, DLF, Compaq, Videocon, Navratna Hair Oil, ITC Sunfeast, Airtel, ICICI and Tag Heuer, to name a few.

Ask him how he chooses a brand for endorsement, and he is quick to reply, "I should be comfortable with it."

Late last year, we ran into SRK on the Pepsi Blue Billion Express train. Why was he on this train? "I feel Pepsi's Blue Billion initiative is a great idea.

I have done three commercials for this campaign and I loved the jingle 'Oooooh Aaaaah India, Aaaaah Yaaaaa India!' England always had a cricket anthem. It's a great attempt to provide an anthem to Indian cricket enthusiasts."

The dynamic actor, who enjoys shooting commercials, says, "It is a relationship that a star builds for the brand's future.

It is important for the celebrity to be in sync with the brand. The brand influences the consumers only if the celebrity fits the brand's attributes well and also stays with the brand for a long period."

How does Bollywood's top actor live up to his endorsements in real life? "It is important that the celebrity personally uses the brand before endorsing it. I eat Sunfeast biscuits, use Airtel, drink Pepsi, and so on.

After some time, people start associating the celebrity with the brand. In fact, I have been known to be a 'Santrowala' because I have been the brand ambassador for Santro for over five years."
