Black had been the first movie I watched because of her after having got to know her through some SRK movies...and honestly, I liked her performance more than Amitji's one (who I already got to know through SRK-movies).

Until then, I've watched more of her movies...and didn't get disappointed - especially when she portrays characters like in Saawariya, No one killed Jessica, Aiyyaa, Mardaani, Hichki, and her latest one.

To me, she's one of the top actresses in Hindi cinema from the late 90ies until today.

Rani has sort of the opposite problem where her acting really resonates to people of her age group. I see the argument that people don't care for Rani's acting because "you can see the wheels turning in her head" as she acts (An infamous Hollywood zinger lmfao) however I've found that many people actually emote like that in real life and so her histrionics really work with that viewer.

You don't have to like everyone's style of acting. I honestly think people see Rani's incredible filmography (compared to the ??? the 2000s was churning out hers was stellar) and see a lot of range, whereas I feel acting-wise - not dancing-wise, Rani deliberately chose to keep a smaller set of emotions and instead hone in on her 'style' of acting.

I don't find her amazing. Very average and monotonous actress. Can't connect to her characters.

My opinion is just my opinion in their eyes to call an above average actress with which many will agree.

But presenting their opinion as some undeniable truth by calling someone like Rani a better actress than Vidya or even Tabu and wait even better than Sridevi with whom hardly anyone will accept as some mere fact.

Yes, somebody's opinion is just a p e r s o n a l opinion and has nothing to do with the r e a l talent of an actor /actress.

The only thing I wonder about is the why do people think that their personal perception has to be generalized... someone (here Rani) isn't per se what members here state but just according to their personal perception.

The versatility of Rani's expressions and the way she can transport/express emotions makes her enacting a character in a believable way...yes or no (still personal perception).

To me, she does it in a believable way (in the roles I watched)...so, to me, she is a good actress.
