Exactly. I don’t really blame her.
To me it felt like Makers intentionally added that bit to generate outrage and create buzz. Aaj Kal controversy hona ek fashion hai.

I have not seen the movie so need to watch it to see what the controversy is about. I read somewhere Nayanthara is one of the highest paid actress so need to see her work.

Seen only 1 movie of her, but she's got great screen presence and acts well. Looks good too.
I like this guy’s response

If this doesn't suggest the growing intolerance in India, then...
What was the controversy? Poor girl.
I am pretty sure 90% people don't know what was wrong with the movie. Still they bash her. Disgusting.
I feel bad for her. Even after apologizing, she's still being attacked. Hope the film resurfaces somewhere else.
Watched the movie a couple of weeks ago and I loved it. Wasn't paying much attention to the religious aspects of the movie. Don't know why some people are making such a huge deal about it.

Well, You gotta have a touch of extremism in you to find something as harmless as this offensive to your beliefs. I mean, seriously, someone claimed they disliked the movie because it supposedly encourages conversion? I don't think it does, but even if you're a bit touchy about your faith, why see diversifying beliefs as a negative? Why should people be stuck with a religion just because that's what they were born into without any say in the matter? It's pretty mind-boggling. But, expecting logic from people who are trapped in their own ideologies is a long shot.

@bold - Totally agree. Apostasy or Ridda should not be considered crime
