Part 15
Maan ko nahi pata ki wardrobe mei kya hai. Secretary just thought to cover all bases.
Geet thinks that Maan deliberately put these things there and maybe wants to exercise his husbandly rights.
Geet looks at the door and back at smiling Maan and runs inside her room again closing the door with a bang.
She feels like bashing her head one moment due the embarrassment.
Next moment she feels like bashing Maan's head open and take a long look at what is going on inside.
Looking at his reaction it is clear to her that he didn't put those things specially. He really did order takeout and was only wanted to have food.
She quickly changes back into normal sleepwear set…a full sleeves top with pajama pants. Tied up her hair. And goes out again.
She quietly walks over the table where Maan was unpacking the food…silently she starts serving food for both of them.
Once done both of them start eating in peace.
She thought he would bring up the embarrassing moment and make fun of her, but he acted like nothing happened and silently accompanied her in dinner.
The moment she had stepped out in that baby doll lingerie….Maan took a few moments to digest and save the image into his brain but tabhi samajh gaya ki there must have been a misunderstanding and the lady secretary must have put those clothes in her wardrobe.
After dinner he helps her clean up a little.
Then picks up his coat.
M- I’ll send the Car, Driver, and my Assistant tomorrow. They will drive you to your place. If you need help with anything, my assistant will be able to handle it.
Geet nods her head then shakes it.
G- Nahi…no need. It is just visiting my parents, I can go by myself. You don't have to arrange anything.
Maan steps closer to her and places his hand on her head ruffling her hair a little.
M- Did you forget you are popular now? You can't take public transport or book a normal taxi.
G- Oh…right.
M - Okay?
G - Hmm…that about meeting your family... should prepare I anything... some meeting gifts?
M- No, you don't have to worry about those things. We don't need to give anything to elders and for the kids I'll see what to do.
He reassures her and absent mindedly keeps stoking her hair.
G- Okay... then... anything else I need to prepare? I am not very sure about the rituals on your side.
M - Everything is already there. We just need to show up. That’s all.
Geet nods but still feels quite nervous about meeting his family.
He gives her messed up hair a final pat and leaves after saying goodnight.
++++
Next day early morning, Maan’s car arrives, and Geet goes to visit her parents.
Ghar gayi toh only her mother and father were present.
Her brother was away on some business.
Although they welcomed her inside; their faces didn't look particularly happy.
Her father just kept giving her disappointing look and didn't speak much.
Her mother asked her how she was doing. How was everything. She told her that she had watched her series.
Before she could say more her father spat out 'shameless' and turned his face away.
Her mother tried to meditate a little saying that now everyone recognizes their daughter…everyone like her show.
Her father disagreed immediately.
Father- Nonsense! She is only bringing shame to family by shooting such things.
Clearly subject of her job would only bring chaos and disagreement.
Geet tried changing the topic.
She asked about their well-being…about the cousins the neighbors...
Her father would interject few times how someone else’s daughter was better than her.
Geet thoroughly ignored it.
She knows her parents are totally stuck in their thinking.
By lunch time her father also cooled down…having vented his grievances and talked more amicably.
Suddenly, her mother brings up the topic of her marriage out of the blue.
Mother - Now that you are settled in your career. Agge ka kya socha hai?
G- Nothing much... this series will finish in another 4 months then shoot couple of ads and look for new series.
Mother- Ohooo main kaam ki nahi life ki baat kar rahi hoon. Shaadi ke baare mein kab sochegi? Yahan teri cousins ke bachche bhi ho chuke hain
Father mentions some xyz's son is of marriageable age and how Geet would be a great match for him.
Mother- Haan haan bahut acha ladka hai…kal heimil lete hai unse? Kya kehti hai?
Geet places down her spoon.
The food she had eaten felt like a brick in her stomach...
This meal... so all the guilt trip and good cop bad cop role playing... all this was to her marry her away...
She didn't even want to ask how much this marriage would mean to her father's business... coz she is sure it will mean a lot.
G- Meri aaj raat ki hi flight hai…I have to go back to work. Aur mujhe abhi shaadi nahi karni hai.
Mother- Arre itna bhi kya kaam hai... aur ladke se ek bar milne mein kya burai hai?
Geet gets up and keeps her utensil in the kitchen.
G- Nahi. Mujhe aaj hi nikalna hai. Aur mujhe kissi ladke se nahi milna.
Her father immediately starts scolding her for being mannerless and not listening to her parents.
G- Haan haan main hoon kharab. Bigad gai hoon. Haath se nikal gai hoon. Mujhse shaadi jo karega woh bhi aap hi logon ko kosega ki kaisi ladki unke sarr baandh di aap logon ne. Main jaa rahi hoon. Ye kuch paise hain meri salary ke, Maa tum rakh lo.
Saying all this she picks her purse and leaves hurriedly.
Once she is inside the Car, she breathes a sigh of relief.
She knows she is a bit sentimental towards people she accepts as her own
Assistant - Madam is everything okay?
G- Yes…it's fine.
Assistant - Where would you like to go now?
G- Shopping
She didn't want to go home. Maybe some retail therapy will make her happy
Assistant – Madam, Sir is asking if it's possible to leave tonight for Xxx place.
G- Sure. Why not. Oh, by the way…do you know for how long we will stay there?
Assistant - I have been asked to book return tickets for xx date. So, for 5 days
G- So long!
Geet is taken aback for a moment.
Sachi mein ... this man ... he kept saying nothing to worry nothing to worry.
And she also like a fool started believing nothing to worry.
She is going for 5 days to ‘ancestral' house of this extremely rich guy.
How can she not prepare anything!!!!
Assistant – Madam, would you be buying clothes for your travel, or you have something else on your mind?
