It seems like it might just be a coincidence. Ranbir had that massive success with "Sanju," and actors usually have a longer career than their female counterparts. So, I think Ranbir and Ranveer might deliver more and bigger hits compared to Deepika eventually. Plus, Deepika hasn't really done anything as iconic as Mastani herself.

In the last 10 years RK has only Hirani directed Sanju to his credit. Post which he signed 2 films. TJMM and Animal. TJMM was such a downgrade. Vanga has only Arjun Reddy and it's remake to his credit. Hope he doesn't go the Abhinav Kashyap way. . What happened to big directors wanting to work with him? Tiwari insists that Ramayan casting is not done yet. Still RK's PR is throwing around names bigger than him. Weird isn't it?

Karishma ate Madhuri alive in DTPH in not such a great role and in a side role and not been a better actress then MD.

So the theories of shaping up a good character by the writer, or even the performances just fails here.

The reason for Karishma overshadowing Madhuri in DTPH isn't exactly a mystery anymore. It's been discussed quite a bit. She played the underdog in the film, and people tend to root for the underdogs. Her character was more well-rounded and relatable. Plus, it marked the first time SRK and Karishma were paired together, and she had as much screen time as Madhuri.

As for "Prem Deewane," I haven't really heard of it, and I've never seen anyone talking about Pooja Bhatt stealing the limelight from Madhuri.

Agree with everything, but Karishma had lesser screen time then Madhuri specially in the second half.

Do watch Prem Deewane, it is available for free on YT, a well made romcom

You can't take out actors from the equation and just rely on the writing/characters. Why else would they rope in stars for a cameo? (usually as a dead/divorced spouse) Was Deepika strictly necessary for Jawan or 83? Wouldn't someone less popular but talented have done equally good? I believe not. Stars who are also talented actors bring something special to the table even if it's a 5 mt role.
