Second tweet is so reliable. The person does not have a blue dot near their name and is spreading misinformation. The revenues are exact in earnings. The producer just makes less of a profit from it.

The Discount Offer And The Producers

A Rs 25 crore nett would normally give producers a share of Rs 13 crores after commission. The producers may rather make just Rs 8 crores over the four days since the rest of it was spent on the free tickets. As the discount offers reduce through the weekdays, the percentage of share will increase and it can be hoped that the makers get a nett share of Rs 16 - 18 crores by the end of the film's run. There are a lot of calculations that go on behind the scenes. An increase in the collections help in creating a positive perception in general and also help in getting better non theatrical deals. More viewers lead to more chatter around the film and if the film is received well, it helps to spread the word of mouth faster.

What is your take on discounted movie tickets? Do you think it is sustainable in the long run?

You can watch Zara Hatke Zara Bachke at a theatre near you.

It's pretty simple, a lot of companies follow this - buy one get one free, this attracts large number of buyers and the company then makes profit.

Personally, I saw that while working at Starbucks, every summer for about a week for 2 hours we had half-off on Frappuccinos and had heavy crowd during those 2 hours. So the company was making profit as more people showed up. For e.g if we got 10 people in a hour for Frappuccinos during regular hours, during the Frappuccino special hours, the numbers increased to 50-60, so despite the half price anything after 20 would be profit for the company.

I didn't own a Starbucks, worked there for 4 years. I don't think you can own a Starbucks franchisee, they are all company operated.
