Rajasthan Royals will be taking on the Chennai Super Kings in the 37th match of the TATA IPL 2023 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur today.
Both teams have played 7 games each so far this season.
Chennai Super Kings are on a roll. They have now won three games on the trot, and the last two in particular were in convincing fashion.
They will now come into this contest on the back of two defeats, but that win in Chennai will hold them in good stead.
Chennai Super Kings have won 5 of their 7 games so far, and are placed at the top of the points, table with 10 points to their tally and a net run rate of +0.662.
On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals have won 4 of their 7 games this season, and are placed third on the points' table with 8 points to their tally and a net run rate of +0.844.
The royals won four out of their opening five games but have stuttered a bit in the last two games.
A third loss on the trot would put them under a bit of pressure.
CSK on the other hand have seen their fortunes turn after that loss to Royals in their own den.
Injuries have hampered them big time but this side still keeps winning games.
Ajinkya Rahane's form has provided them an extra bit of spark in that top order, and they have found new heroes with the ball in the form of Tushar Deshpande and Akash Singh.
Chennai Super Kings is coming on the back of three consecutive wins while the Rajasthan Royals are coming on the back of two consecutive defeats.
These two teams have played a total of 27 games against each other in IPL so far, where Chennai Super Kings won 15 matches while Rajasthan Royals won 12 games.
Another exciting game is anticipated here between these two teams on Thursday.

Sawai Mansingh Stadium’s surface is bowler-friendly, providing plenty of assistance for both pacers and spinners. The team batting second has a terrific record at this venue, and the team winning the toss will most likely choose to chase. As the game progresses, the batting surface improves.
What to expect: The surface that was used for the only game at this venue so far was slow. You can expect the spinners from both sides to have a huge say on the outcome if a similar pitch is dished out.
The average first-innings score on this wicket is 160 runs.
The team batting second has great records here. They have maintained a winning percentage of 80 on this ground.
Thanks for the tag and thread, Madz!
Tough say for predictions😅
Rajasthan Royals: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson©, Devdutt Padikkal, Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jason Holder, Trent Boult, Sandeep Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal
Chennai Super Kings: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni©, Matheesha Pathirana, Maheesh Theekshana, Tushar Deshpande
Rajasthan Royals
Adam Zampa was included for the game against CSK two weeks ago. The Australian legspinner could come back in contention especially with the Royals not making great use of Jason Holder's all-round abilities.
Tactics & Matchups: Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ajinkya Rahane, two batters who have been in great form for CSK, have had issues against Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal in the past.
Chennai Super Kings
Ben Stokes is still not available for selection. Don't expect CSK to make any changes to their winning combination.
Tactics & Matchups: Royals' run rate has come down drastically in the middle overs recently. That is one phase of the innings where CSK can apply the squeeze with their spin attack. With the bat, the likes of Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni will fancy their chances against Trent Boult at the death given their past record.
Did you know
- Royals have enjoyed a terrific record at home over the years, winning 32 out of 48 games
- Rahane's SR of 199.05 is the best by any batter this season (min 50 runs)
Jos Buttler, who hasn't fired in the last few games, delivered in that contest in Chepauk a couple of weeks ago and Royals were also aided by contributions from R Ashwin, Devdutt Padikkal and Shimron Hetmyer. Buttler's form has directly coincided with RR's fortunes without a doubt. The English swashbuckler hammered over 200 runs in the first four games but has managed just 40 in the last three, including two ducks.
Apart from Buttler, the Royals also need a significant contribution from their skipper. Sanju Samson started off with a bang, scoring 97 runs in the first two games.
But he has made only 84 in the next five. What could add to Samson's challenge is the surface in Jaipur. Batting wasn't exactly easier in the only game played here so far.
That could play into their hands given how CSK have been putting up big scores.
