Over-exposure kills stardom?

especially in today's age of social media and instant gratification. When a celebrity is constantly in the limelight, whether through excessive media coverage, too many public appearances, or a constant stream of social media updates, it can lead to a decrease in interest and even resentment from their audience.

Part of what makes a star captivating is their perceived exclusivity and mystique. When they are constantly accessible and overexposed, this can diminish their allure and make them seem less special. Additionally, when a celebrity is overexposed, it can lead to a sense of over-familiarity, which can breed boredom and disinterest.....

That's why these star kids I feel whose incessant partying is visible to us, makes them less interesting.

Do you agree?

I think it really makes them boring now. I get to see them so much on social media, why will I care to watch their films anyway? I guess that's how I feel. But it's also a good way to stay relevant in a sense. Though, the amount of followers one has does not equal a great box office success. It's a tricky game though. If the star is popular, it can lead to ads and brand endorsements, which means more money for them and the company they are in deal with.

Yes. Ranveer Singh is an example.

It is a delicate balance. Stars have to appear enough in media to remain relevant but not too much in case people get bored of the excess.

this is true.... But they say is we discuss or gossip abt star kids, or see their photos or follow them, the industry think that the star kid then should be actor or we want to see them in movies.. Weird logic.. Maybe it happens for salman khan.. For example, i dont want to see taimur in movies, it is a temporary thing,.. we like something in the moment then get bored.. anyway the industry will change their looks and make them look bad... Sara also we love the way she was in kwk, but what has that got to do with acting? Or have to watch her movies? 🤔 i dont even get that logic.. People like listening to you talk or like your attitude, then how is that anything got to do with acting or movies or buying the stuff you sell..

Just recently there was the topic of katrina followers does not translate to huge box office numbers... I think it was meant for people in the industry, maybe they hire celebrities looking at the numbers... Again no logic.. For me i think they even buy followers... 🤔

Totally does.

I posted the below in another topic a few days ago and I am posting it here again..

Restraint is a regal / royal phenomenon. There was restraint back in those days. Actors became stars because there was less exposure of their offscreen personas. Social media and papparazi wasn't as common. The rare opportunities for exposure was still carried out in dignified interviews with the likes of someone like a Simi Garewal.

An Actor was known more for his work, than his offscreen persona and the other gossip he/she was involved in. If you wanna see them, you've to head to the threatres or rent out / buy classic ole VCDs and watch those films at home. There was an air of mystery about them, an intrigue factor.

They were so good at what they did, their craft, but they also felt so unreachable. Of a different league, a different galaxy. So they were stars indeed for a reason. That applies to even the female actors of that era.

Overexposure kills and cheapens things. Ranbir, Ranveer, Ishaan, Vicky - we known them more for their offscreen life and who they're dating and who they're not VERSUS for their work. No sense of restraint. They're commonplace. They just feel like you or me, except a little more privileged due to connections.

Btw... you couldn't have worded it better either! Over-exposure kills stardom and the allure that mystiqueness has to it. Restraint and mystiqueness is dignified and appears regal, infact.

Completely agree, if everyone knows about what you eat, wear, go to the gym and date where is the mystery and the aura.

Stars were liked because there was restraint and an aura. Social media is relevant but you need to know how to use it.

Probably why south stars have that fandom as they do not put everything on social media and there is a sense of mystery.

In the last few months SRK has also maintained that mystery and has lesser social media presence and visibility which generates curiosity
