Rejection scene looked so off

Posted: 7 months ago

No offense but the rejection scene was just so off, like it was rehearsed for few minutes and then put into action like its rehearsed and throwing reasons in the air like rejecting him for x, y, and z reasons.

Also, Mr. Garewal who refused to support Katha in the beginning of the show now suddenly becoming a self-proclaimed protective father towards Katha, literally feels so comical lol. This sudden whitewashing towards being a protective father feels so hysterical lmao. ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿคฃ

Frankly speaking, the way the story's headed towards just looks so directionless because it's just so off. The "one-night stand" mention just also looks like ainvayi usko dialogues mein insert kara hua because the story is like in hibernate mode or something.

Both the proposal and rejection I felt the sameโ€ฆ.very rushed (proposal was beautiful though).

Rejection was abrupt but then again thatโ€™s how they have shown Katha since the beginning..:: very straightforward, no beating around the bush for anything. Office work or personal stuff she has been just settling matters left n right ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Totally agree with u on PapaGโ€™s whitewash.

Hey imo they are following the 1001 nights track here, the FL calls and tells the ML she can't accept his proposal but the proposal in 1001 happens in a restaurant with music, candle lights and all.

I find papa G to be selfish, because now he's trying to get his ex-bahu and potha to their house in anticipation of having a complete family. He's aware that kathaa is a  strong woman hence trying to convince her by being an adoring PAPA. He's well aware of the fact that she's devoid of family love.

Regarding the reasons for refusal it takes a long while and multiple denials before katha can say yes ONS is indeed a thing that bothers her. Because chances are she's forgiven Viaan for asking such a thing in return for money, but she can't forgive herself for having agreed to do such a thing.

As much as I loved how earnest Viaan's confession was, it felt so out of place to me personally! The rejection scene felt a little more plausible!

Viaan and Katha aren't on the same page.. yet! The confession was all about Viaan putting his feelings out there and letting her know she makes him happy.. albeit a little selfish on his part! But Katha clearly isn't there yet and it makes perfect sense to me! She doesn't have any romantic feelings towards him.. but I guess she'd start seeing him in a new light when she sees him with Aarav!

Also the mention about the ONS didn't bug me too much cause he worded it in a more palatable way! Their past is way behind them and now they have a whole new dynamic going on.. it's just a matter of him giving Katha the space to decide for herself I guess!

I think the whole premise of the story is how intensely the protagonist feels for his love interest, he's not a man who would be moved by a puddle of water, he needs a wave to surf upon athe tide of emotions to ride over his grief and she's no small puddle with all her baggage and it can't be any other way.

She needs to persistently refuse and he has to consistently approach, sharam naam ki cheez aajaye tho their story is gone for a toss, because their love is bound to be stigmatised, they have to face humiliations, rejections and hence he needs to be unashamedly in love with her to get her into accepting him, giving their relationship a chance.

This is what happens when story is written based on random demands from fangirls ๐Ÿ˜†

Fangirls demanded whitewashed Ehsan so that they can make more BFF edits on him and Viaan๐Ÿ˜†.... lo and behold he was whitewashed so that he can play wingman and for him to play wingman, Viaan has to become a moron who can't control his feelings for Katha and goes about googling random things๐Ÿ˜†

Fangirls have also demanded whitewashed Grewals, this is why you are seeing this version of Papa Grewal who is now a saint trying to learn how to become a father to fellow Saint Katha ji๐Ÿ˜†

Story is feeling diluted and directionless because they really don't seem to know how to navigate the actual "in love" phase for Katha and Viaan. LOL they've dropped the ball on building up to the confession and subsequent rejection from Katha. Everyone could tell this was coming but makers have messed up on an execution level so the impact has been diluted. The contrast is so obvious from how well done Viaan's love realization was with the poem when it first aired to now almost 2 months later with this confession - they again relied on the same poem to make an impact but repeating the same poem for 2 months is obviously not going to give you that kind of impact for a scene again.

As for the ONS....lol it became obvious during the Shamita track only when they made Viaan literally mouth the line "This is my redemption" that this is all about spoonfeeding for the audience who cannot understand atonement unless it is SPELLED OUT๐Ÿ˜†.....the ONS was a mutual thing between KV and had baggage for BOTH of them....but by the end of the Shamita track, they made it seem like it was only Viaan's burden and baggage that had to be lifted.....lol Katha got one moment of asking a pointed question during the case and that was it in terms of her "processing" her own baggage from that night....done and dusted. As if the baggage from the ONS was only about Katha needing to give a character certificate to Viaan.....lol....They had to move on to the love confession quickly na....lol how can a pesky little thing like an ONS baggage stand in the way๐Ÿ˜†

Doesn't seem like ONS baggage is an issue for Katha anymore....she said it pretty directly in the rejection scene when Viaan asked her if that is factoring into why she is rejecting him. They seem to have oversimplified the narrative there and have now made the conflict only about Katha being a widow/single mom, that is why she is pushing Viaan away.

It will take more maturity and nuanced writing to actually show a Katha capable of accepting she still has some baggage from the ONS. I'm not saying that her reason for rejecting Viaan is because of the ONS - I do think it very much has to do with her not wanting to upset the balance of her life right now with her focus only being on her son. But it does do a disservice to the basic story that Viaan gets to have a whole journey of evolving from the ONS to his current state while Katha is still just this static person who puts everything in a box and never talks about her own emotions regarding the baggage of the ONS night. Until she actually talks it through with someone - and preferably Viaan because only they both can understand what they shared that night....there is no real resolving of it and moving past it. Right now they are just showing a generic whitewashed version to pacify the audience that was holding it against Viaan and would have forever held it against him unless Katha was shown to give him a character certificate of being a good person.....lol
